Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

maybe I was not clear.. but when I said VRnetwork is superior to VRcomputing that;s exactly what I meant.. I was not trying to comapre what happens when you add ing to network or remove ing from computing

but yes, as you say, we can draw all kinds of comparaisons.. when we remove ing... or add ing.. etc.. for my post above, I simpyl said that I hope vrnetwork fetches more than vrcomputing cause imo it is by far superior to it. imo. that's not apples and oranges, that's just two distinct domains and my saying which one is imo better.

Perhaps my post was a bit convoluted by addressing the unrelated random keywords you mentioned regarding 'ing'. And yes, all kinds of conclusions can be drawn about various other keywords that may or may not be stronger than computing, none of which have anything to do with the sale to which I was referring.

I too hope to see vrnetwork sell for more than vrcomputing...

it'll be a longish and intereating ride with VR.. no doubt about it.. everything needs a start, any tech, so that's where we are now.. in the dino era of VR.. I think we are in for some amazing tech developments in years to come! it'll not only be fascinating for VR domainers but just for VR fans in general.

but like always, the technology has to catch up with the visions of things to come!

@NamesBond - Thanks for the in-depth explanation of your opinions. I understand your reasoning and appreciate where you're coming from, in addition to how/why you reached your conclusions. I just don't agree with them!

My opinion is based upon what I feel is "present day" value of VR, and as such, regardless of prior sales from 2011 or 2008, and which companies were at their peak with now many users, etc; I think this specific name should have brought 1500-2000 in today's VR market. Again, IMO..however misguided it may be in some people's eyes.

No need to waste anymore time on moot banter over a lukewarm sale. Solid name, good ROI for seller, plenty of room for good ROI for buyer...all of which equal positive impact for VR names...

@RevolutionaryDomains, you're absolutely right you have to go with your own gut and experience when determining "present value"... It's something I wrestle with all the time... (I think it is especially on my mind today as I just passed on an easy 2k because a Buyer was lowballing "present value" on a name of mine, so forgive my droning on about this issue! )

Grace delete both, IMO.

The z kills it for me, especially with VR as a suffix. Doesn't mean it will never sell, but likely to another domainer for relatively low price. The other sounds too familiar, even with the v prefix, so research TMs thoroughly on that one.

Vrebate has no TM issue. I checked and there wasn't one earlier! Unless you say that I have VR Ebate, there is a co called ebates. Anyways when I saw it I thought VR, and upon closer examination I thought virtual rebate. Again not trying to pimp them as rock stars, just what my thought process was and why I liked them.

They weren't hand regs . . .

The second bundle of sales you posted have no relevance to your names, IMO. Especially names like vrvr, etc. Also, most of the sales you posted were domainers buying other domainer drops and discards, which is quite telling, especially when comparing those names against the names you bought. The first group shows far more similar names to yours, so there's obviously opportunity for you to make a potential xxx sale.

Nice to read the name isn't a TM. As my post read, it sounded really familiar, so I wasn't sure. Nonetheless, I've seen motivated sellers make quite a tidy profit from similar types of names to yours, so it's all in what you put into it, as with anything.

All .COM. ***** I've bought a lot of names though, so after renewal fees over multiple years and new purchases it's not as great as it looks unfortunately ****

The last few months have been very slow, but the tech is clearly picking up with the recent Apple Mac announcement. AR looks like it's starting where VR was 2-3 years ago and could be huge too, but I'm not sure they will need domains and websites to describe their product as much as deep VR experiences do. Exciting times for both techs for sure.

I'll say the mid X,XXX was bought by a major corporation. It's a keyword you wouldn't think was so great at first, but then when you research VR, you realize how perfect it is. Not a brandable, a solid keyword.

Going forward maybe I'll reach out to buyers and specifically ask if it's ok to report sales for future names.

Also it's pretty crazy how many niches and industries are using VR already. The keyword names we've sold are all across the spectrum in terms of categories: news, recreation, entertainment, hardware, apps, sports, retail, music, gambling, and more.

Sedo/Afternic/GoDaddy with BIN's. Also started using Uniregistry Market but no sales there just yet. Not sure if they come via the sales lander, parked, or start at the market/registration path because there's no way to tell. Afternic/GoDaddy is by far the majority of sales.

Right now only interested in listing the NN and NNN names since they are liquid. I'll update my signature with more names over time for sure.
