Violet May Knife 1923-2008

My Grandmother passed away March 28. The funeral was yesterday. It was a very nice service, and the funeral home was fantastic with the help they provided. The hardest part was the day after Grandma passing, having to tell my 91 year Grandfather that his wife of over 61 years had passed away, as he was in the hospital recovering from hip surgery at the time and could not be there. This has been very hard for the entire family.

My point for this post is to ask for suggestions for a memorial site that I plan to put together for her. The condolence page on the funeral homes page is nice

but I just think that she deserves more (she was a fantastic lady). I would like to put a site together that I can post pictures and family and friends can post comments and pictures as well. I am limited in my programming skills to start this from scratch, so would Wordpress be able to handle this? I am open to suggestions, as I would like to get this up a running as soon as possible. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry for the long post, as I could write forever as to how nice and kind this lady was, but that's what the website is for. I have already purchased the name.

Mike, my sincerest condolences to you and your family.
yeah wordpress can do it, in the very basic sense they can post photos as different authors that you will need to assign a position either author or user, author's posts are automatically approved.

Sorry to hear about your lose. Know that prayers and thoughts are with you, your grandfather, and the rest of your family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Grandparents are a blessing and I feel very sorry for kids today who, because of fractured families, don't get to see theirs. I think there is an 'adopt a grandparent' scheme somewhere, how sad is that?

Your grandmother lived a good long life and she was obviously well loved. That's a successful life, and we would all be lucky to achieve that. All those wonderful memories you have of her will keep her alive in your hearts! She'll be so proud you are honouring her this way.

Your Grandad will be ok. He has a family who love him and at his age he knows it'll soon be time for him to exit the stage too. Looking back on the family he and his wife raised, he has got to be happy at what they achieved.

Engage him in this memorial you are doing, so he can focus on her life rather than her absence.

I think WordPress should work fine for this job. Good luck with it!

Wordpress has got to be one of the easiest ways to set up a site...often with one or two clicks (thru Fantastico).
