Who is responsible for monitoring the WHO IS records of the US GEO TVs. They better keep alert. Don't blink or you might miss a change.

You are correct I shouldn't have said competitor.

In fact, this company has done more for me than they realize. I've gotten several calls from other GEO TV owners, several whom I've never spoken to before, which were contacted by the company and who want to join Channel Local.

Normally the conversation goes like this "some other company called me and pressured me into joining their network. Do you know this company? I understand you are forming a GEO TV network, I would like to ask some questions". The conversation ends with me sending a contract and them expressing interest in joining. These are mostly cold calls. I wasn't even contacting other GEO TV owners til we launched.

Congrats on Detroit.tv

GP Not sure what you are saying here?

What is happening with Detroit.tv ? I assure you I am not buying it but perhaps you know who is? In fact I heard you were buying it! That is what I thought this announcement was about. I suspect a certain party was trying to pit us against each other in a bidding war. That strategy seemed to have backfired as I assure you, I will not be buying Detroit.tv and it sounds like despite what I'm being told, you have passed as well. It makes more sense for you then me IMO. I hope you are buying SanJose.tv as it would be good to see it developed. I agree, I feel SanJose.tv is more valuable then Detroit.tv even though SanJose.tv has a $500 fee per year and Detroit amazingly is reg fee. So maybe that is the deal you are saying you have "In principal". IMO that was a shrewd move for James to buy it when he did.

My plate is full. I am concentrating on Texas and the LA area plus a few resort destinations around the country along with some other key domains I own. That is enough for me right now.

Like I keep saying, I am rooting for you George. Many out there are trying to undermine .TV in general as well as the TV Geo space. IMO the last thing we need is other geo .TV owners wasting there energy clashing egos. I have no time for that and I'm sure you do not either. My door is always and the last time we chatted was based on certain factors that no longer exist. I can explain that better in a private correspondence.

I think this coming year will present many opportunities for Geo TV owners, but the bottom line IMO, is this real estate will only go up in value and we will both be proven smart for getting our geo .tv names when we did. I will be using my media contacts and background to create original entertainment and focus first on the geos in my area. Like I said earlier, the people we both know tried to play us against each other and failed.

If I now have access to the LiveBroadcast.tv technology, then we talk.

Closed networks don't work. If they did, then RSS would have never been developed. Google Ad Words would not exist.

I have existing business relationships with a nationwide network of videographers since I sell them videographer leads thru videographers.net.

I view LiveBroadcast as one of two critical (the killer) apps for GEO TV. The other killer app I need is covered in Local Experts basic business model.

My consultant during the day is CIO of a large electronic association in DC. He LiveBroadcasts the association conferences each year. I have the technology know-how in house to compete with LiveBroadcast.tv.

My perference is to partner, not build.

I will call Scott. If he is willing to talk, then great. If not, then he just launched a competitor with eyeballs and videographers. Not smart IMHO.

I believe some folks on NPs run a WHO IS monitoring service. Maybe they can find any names you lost (or forget).

So what's a Who IS anyways ?!?!?

Just wanted to say something about what I know about Detroit.TV and hopefully clear some things up. As owner of the domain I can tell you that no one has purchased it or is in the process of purchasing it nor were we attempting to suck people into a bidding war. I will say that we will (maybe) sell the domain but that decision is more motivated by a lack of interest in developing it rather than a need for money or some devious plan to get a huge pay day for it (we know we aren't). When we made the decision to sell the domain, we contacted both parties that had expressed interest in buying it (GP was contacted out of courtesy on my part because I had told him that we no longer had any interest in selling it, no more than 2 weeks earlier). In the end all parties (even me and my partner) waffled a bit and nothing worked out. Sorry if you guys feel like you were trying to be sucked in to a bidding war against each other but that was not the intention at all. In fact, I was more worried that one party would get pissed at me if I sold it to the other without contacting him.

I have no idea what GP is alluding to in his posts about the WHOIS records, but I can say it is not and never was Detroit.TV. I do hope it is something big though.

Good luck guys. I sincerely hope this venture into .TV works out for both of you.

You have my permission (not that you need it) to sell it to Brian or join Brian's network.

haha, i know, seriously george I was really trying to give you guys both a fair opportunity at the domain, really I go back and forth on selling it like you said there is potential that it could be worth significantly more in 2 or 3 years, potential being the keywork...no plans to join a network, that has never been discussed at all, anyway thanks for the permission

Sorry bro, but with the US these aren't local domains. I would just use a global brand like LocalExperts.tv instead of UnitedStates.tv. My interest in GEO TV is "local"

US.TV - ME.TV wishes it was US.TV. They need some more "us" for ME.TV.

Executive Summary -

Yes, I was told MCB.TV was buying Detroit.tv for $10K and asked to bid. I passed.

I tried to get access to LiveBroadcast.tv technology a few months ago and was told that it is exclusive to MCB.tv and ASBN.tv despite the fact that I have existing traffic and viodeographers.

I run AllWedding.com, one of the top 5-7 wedding web sites in terms of traffic and revenue. We help over 100K brides each year plan a wedding thru our All Wedding Planning service and have 2.5 million uniques a year visit our network of event planning web sites including BanquetFacilities.com, EventCatering.com, Videographers.net, and more.

The 100K brides are not clicks, they are people we call and match to local wedding professionals. If a professional doesn't provide quality service, we will kick them out of our network. This year we are on target for 200K couples which is around 6-8% market penetration of all couples getting married in the US making us the largest wedding planning service in the country.

I want use LiveBroadcast.tv (for my GEOS and) for AllWedding, since I have wedding videographers throughout the country. These videographers pay me. I have their money in unrecognized revenue via a monthly budget used to purchase leads from AllWedding.com. So I can offer bonus money to join a LiveBroadcast program. We have done this in the past, offered free money to support advertiser behavior, it is very effective.

I want to use AllWedding.tv, the GEOs, and LiveBroadcast.tv's technology to stream weddings online as a service to our brides and videographers so that people who can't travel to the wedding have an opportunity to view it. When I got married, some family members couldn't attend due to distance. It happens. In addition to wedding, we also have alot of bar-mitzvahs, sweet sixteen parties, fundraisers, etc that use our service.

While I have the technology know how in house, we have ALOT on our plate. I made the decision over the summer to partner with a company who had this skill set and technology so that I could focus on the other features I view as "core" to .TV. I've yet to find a vendor with all the feature of LiveBroadcast.tv. They are my top choice.

So yes, the original post was about Detroit.tv since I was told it was sold. I am buying a US GEO but won't announce until that is complete. It is a $X,XXX deal for 1 million residents.

Provided all GEO TV owners and AllWedding.TV can have access to LiveBroadcast.tv platform on equal footing, then there is no issue on my end. Otherwise, I have to waste my time and company resources replicating what they already have built, which is perfect IMHO.

FOLLOW UP

With respect to my other posts, I can't stand watching smart people doing things I already know won't work because I've already made the mistake. In the future, I will just stand on the sidelines and bite my tongue.
