Hi all,

Wow, I just stumbled upon this site and wish I had found it sooner...

I have bought several domain names over the years, but never really with the intention of getting into reselling them. For each of them I had some crazy idea in mind of how to develop it, but later abandoned it (usually for another crazy idea).

Now I've got a few domains and I'm not sure if I should just let them drop or try to sell them. I put many of them on Sedo just for the hell of it, but even then I don't know what values to set. Seems like some names go for ridiculously high amounts so then I'm like, "wow, maybe mine will too!" but then others go for far less than I would guess.

Anyway, what do you guys think about these:

Snagoo.com
TubeRocker.com
PriceCapture.com
TryItFree.org

And then there's this one, which I currently am using, but I'm just curious:

BotReviews.com

Thanks a lot for any replies!

John

Hello seeker,

My story reads similar to yours. I think making the decision on what
your domaining goals are will definitely help to simplify your dilemma.
In reading your post I would call you, like me, a visionist a made up
word for dreamer, idea guy, wanna be developer. Unfortunately I do not
have the skill set to breatrh life into my many ideas. A good idea has
to be acted on. If you don't have the skill set or the funds a good idea
will remain that until someone else thinks of or funds it first.

Snagoo.com (low to mid $$) I would keep if you can. This is a decent
brandable name. You wont find a huge market for it and your chances
of landing a big sale on it is slim. Development is the strength in
these name. The double "oo" on the end does make the mane attractive
to web 2.0 developers.

TubeRocker.com (low $$) Not much market value here. I understand the
concept but there are a lot of "tube" sites out there. If you were to
develop this into a nice site then your value would increase.

PriceCapture.com (mid $$ to low $$$) A good idea and again would need
development. Pricing aggregate software. Specialized marketing service.
Target marketing etc.... This does have a market and you could "off" this
name to a domainer/reseller/developer/enduser. You could develop a revenue
Stream if developed.

TryItFree.org (mid to high $$) For me this is the most viable name up front.
The quickest to start up and there are a lot of companies offering free
to try products. This would grow legs.

There are tools for research on the names your looking at. These are
niche markets. Two are for Fancy and two could make money. These are
not high volume search terms and not supported by heavy advertising
competition.

May I ask what direction you want to go in? Do you develop? What kind
of research do you do on a name or a market?

Good Luck

Thanks so much!

Thanks namenut!

I really appreciate the feedback!

As to your questions:

As far as the direction I would like to go in - it depends. I am very much the "visionist" you describe, and I have just enough web design/development skills to get myself into trouble (spending lots of time building up a project that isn't "quite" what it needs to be). At this point I think I need to narrow my focus a little. I have something like 25 or 30 domain names, which I know doesn't sound like much to the folks around here, but when you consider that each of them was at one time a development idea of mine, you get the idea.

So, I need to cut down on what I own, and focus on the best options. I just don't want to drop anything valuable for nothing, but I don't want to hang onto stuff that won't ever be worth anything.

As for Snagoo.Com, yes I want to keep that one. It's nice and short and I can imagine turning it into a real brand so I'll hang onto it for now. The other 3 I listed I just need to figure out the best way to get the most value for them. If that means limited development first, then sale, then maybe that's what I should do.

Anyway, thank you again for your feedback! :D
