Verisign have just gained the name FA.tv - no doubt for their future auction - if that is ever to happen.
However, their stupid premium set-up actually lost them one of the largest sports organisations in the world - the Football Association - who decided the $2100 a year premium renewal, and complexity of having to stay with the same registrar, was just not worth the effort.
This organisation runs football in England and is home to the world's richest national sports league - the Premier League
The Football Association now run its televisual content from theFA.com
Not Verisign's brightest moment.
The FA could buy and sell the whole of the .tv registry many times over. They tried .tv - but now they are firmly back in .com land.
And to think it was only a couple of years ago that some of the big England international matches showed advertising for 'FA TV' - just see where that goes now!
Dumb, Dumber and Verisign!
