Here's my question..what is the value of domain hack? I've seen some good domain hack and i was wondering about the value of it. I myself own one and i'm not sure whether or not i should get more. I haven't seen any sale of domain hack. Why do we register domain hack? Is it because the domain looks cool or because there's a potential end user who's willing to buy such domain?

We sold meeti.ng for $1196 at the auction but agreed big flop, Sedo did a poor job promoting it. We're tying to get Park.io to open up their marketplace so we can list our hacks there.
Congrats on your sale! A few did get good prices but the ones that were sold for $109 had to pay a $60 commission (ouch!), instead of 15%. I wasn't happy about the commission either on my $199 sale (but I'm glad I didn't put my reserve at $99!), especially after I just spent $20 in renewing the domain. Even though I could take the hit because I didn't pay high for the domain, not sure if Sedo deserves the full credit (or the exorbitant fees) for the sale if there was one lone bidder who bid only to my reserve (in the last 5 mins) and not a penny more.

When 2/3 of the listings didn't even get a bid and not many sold, I guess it's pretty clear to say that Sedo missed the ball in this auction.

I was the winning bidder in the Sedo auction for 'insu.re', however, I have unfortunately since been advised that after 11pm on 29th March next year it is very likely that I will not qualify to own a .re domain as we will then be outside the EU here in the UK. Ah well, guess there had to be one downside to independence.

Therefore just a quick warning to all UK domainers make sure of your rights on the domains you have, especially of course any linked to France, as with the .eu domains there is a high risk of them being taken back by the registry. (There are some 'suggestions' for ways around the situation, but beware loopholes that exist today can easily be closed tomorrow. ;) )

I think the same name is on auction at Flippa, I wonder if it has the disclaimer in the description?

The value of a domain hack can be lowww / highhh
Domain hacks primarily have the advantage for being noticeable & recognizeable.
They can be very brandable or they can be used as remarkable forwarders.
Although there are some few good sales, it's rather hard to sell them - because they have not the usual visual "stability" like "normal" domains.

Here is an example of 2 noticeable & recognizeable domain hacks which have a highhh value and which are used as remarkable forwarders:

thefinals.top

(the) final stop (is... ...at the top!)

Just to make it clear I did NOT purchase the domain 'insu.re', although I was the highest bidder on the Sedo auction the 'reserve' was not met in the auction. I subsequently entered into brief negotiations after the auction on Sedo with the owner, but finding out that after the 29th March next year I would not qualify to hold the domain I did not take the negotiations further.

My post was simply as a warning for UK domainers to check the domains they own and not to ignore the serious possibility that on or after 30th March next year some domains could simply be taken back by EU27 countries from owners who are UK based.

insu.re has just been sold for 5 figures (in BTC). The new owner is a big name in the domaining business.

We are now seeking brokers for softwa.re & healthca.re. Our targets are crypto leaning software and healthcare companies. Interested in helping us? DM.

I did not assume you were the owner, although no answer about disclaimer question from anyone in the know, cheers
