Here's my question..what is the value of domain hack? I've seen some good domain hack and i was wondering about the value of it. I myself own one and i'm not sure whether or not i should get more. I haven't seen any sale of domain hack. Why do we register domain hack? Is it because the domain looks cool or because there's a potential end user who's willing to buy such domain?

Indeed, .na domain registrations and renewals are very high.

Most of the people see it in a different perspective, but shrewd domainers see this with a different perspective.

I'm not going to spend my energy to explain why domain hacks are a smarter choice than traditional domain names. In this thread it has been discussed for so many times. End-users are spending multi-million dollars to acquire pure Geo domain names like China.com.

There is no doubt that .com is KING, but the internet trend is now changing rapidly.

Chi.na would become a vibrant alternative and it would add a creative branding strategy to any business which focuses China.

Considering the renewal and registration facts, as you said, the registration and renewal fees for .na domain names come around $4,500 per year if the registrant is a foreign entity, and there are NO RESTRICTIONS in holding a .na domain name.

FB.com was bought by Facebook almost 3 years back for a whopping $8,500,000, and they are not going to worry about the resale value of this domain name, because they are NOT going to resell it ever. It's one of their valuable business assets.

Spending multi-million dollars upfront for a .com domain is a worst decision, when we have the choice to hold on to a beautiful and creative Geo domain hack for just $450,000 for a whopping 100 years, even at an extreme renewal pricing model of $4,500/yr. :)

In this $4,500/yr registration/renewal model, the buyer has the choice to pay yearly, which of course reduces his huge upfront costs in getting and establishing a unique brand identity.

The best hacks are products, services. Any other hacks are a waste of money.
I have HousePric.es and regret I regged it:)

PS: oops, didn't see the last page.

Glad you dropped housepric.es as i was looking for a suitable house prices domain and I'm sorry to say to you that i had a good budget for a decent name. This is a very nice hack and it is now live!

B-)

Two weeks ago I had a $15,000 offer on memph.is, from a well known co. in that area. I turned it down 'though, as i'm not looking to sell. GEO hacks are becoming sooo popular this year; I get offers on mine pretty much every week at the mo.

I understand why you turned it down; sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't, but still that's respectable amount.

I have some .al domains like Birmingham.al, gulfshores.al and a few other cities but no luck so far with serious offers. I can wait though

Yes, very true. Some offers don't work out, but this one would have as it was from one of the largest media co's in Tennessee. I like your birmingham.al name. Lots of opportunity in Alabama and this is the kind of creativity (in domain "hacks") that I, for one, like to see.

Good luck with it,

Yes, that makes a lot of sense to decline this ridiculously low offer for a domain that was registered this year. Because offers like those are routine - you should get a least a few every month.

Maybe it's just me, but it's strange that it's always the same people claiming to have great success selling domain hacks for nice sums. But verifiable, reported sales are so rare.

For example you reportedly sold abudha.bi but I don't think the sale took place or was ever completed.
I believe you are good at staging sales but making it happen is a whole different story.

Also, I wonder why that particular newspaper (the National) routinely reports BS/unconfirmed sales like this one or this one. This article is odd as well. Makes you wonder. I don't believe everything I read on the Internet

I will let the above message stand... perhaps you are just having a bad day, and you do have many fine posts to your credit so I won't rip your bizarre post apart, as I am sorely tempted to do...

If you persist with your silliness, however, I will take the bait. :)
