OK, since I'm pulling what hair I left out with a technical issue, I needed to break and started to ponder...

So if a .TV site was launched and got good SEO placement and was able to get around 80,000 to 100,000 Alexa ranking making $10,000+ a month. High OVT search term.

How much would a TV site with those numbers fetch?

What is the premium a large player would pay for that developed site vs. leaving the domain undeveloped? 2X, 3X, 5X, 10X, more

I will leave you to ponder

I think I understand the question. I would say between 5X-7X to an end user if you are generating 120,000 per year income. A reseller would give you between 36-6O months your revenue and 60 being tough to get.

that is normal valuation, how much does the domain name

factor into the equation when revenue is in play.

Like Education.tv. Undeveloped worth=X

Developed worth X + 1.5Y Y=revenue

Like Education.tv. Undeveloped worth X

Developed worth X + 1.5X revenue

End User X+(between 5-7)*Yearly Revenue
Reseller X+(between 2-5)*Yearly Revenue, note mostly on the lower side so 3 is most common.

Right, that is what I would have expected

had I valued a company. Revenue is additive to the domain value based on normal valuation rules.

So in developing a TV site, Revenue is still very important.

To add, the only ambiguity at times is X. The value of undeveloped domain depends on the domain itself: is it a keyword, what is overture, what is traffic? and more....

If X is pixies it is one value undeveloped but if X is sports undeveloped it is another. Some domains have this. Some domains may not have much traffic because of technology that is not widespread yet but will be over the next few years so there is some incubation value. An example would be OLED.com

I cannot contribute much to this thread other than the answer to the question depends on the buyer and whether the buyer is buying it simply as an on-going business or one that can be developed further. The buyer may pay a premium over traditional valuation models if the latter.

Either way, you will never really know what a real buyer will do with your business once terms are agreed on, money changes hands, and the paperwork is signed.
