I am contemplating buying a zipcode.com (EG: www.94210.com) and using it for a community resource and developing it. The zipcode is in a very urban and geographically defined area.. meaning this is the only zipcode for this area that will ever be. And the area is expectiing a lot of revitalization and development of the next few years.
What would you think its value is? I am the one going to purchase it. Basically i am curious as to what other zipcodes.com, net , and org have bought and sold for recently and what your opinions are on them.

anyone?

UPDATE!
I purchased the domain name.. which happened to be owned by my new door neighbor as it turns out. LOL. I have started a little work on the site but not officially launched it

Moved to "Domain Name Discussion" - We dont allow Appraisals of Domains not registered or owned by you in appraisals section - sorry ;)

As far as the value goes , It would depend on the development of the domain IMO - I have had some success with this in the past , and own several in my area myself.

That zipcode is somewhere in cali right?

IMO it could be worth alot if developed right and you advertised it the right way. :)

Thanks for moving the topic Mark, I wasnt sure which one to put it in.

Yes it is a California Zip Code. So would you put the rough value that you would pay for it in the Mid or Low XXX? It is currently undeveloped and the .net is being used but not very well by someone else.
The current owner is asking mid XXX. Do you think thats reasonable?
THanks
Erin

90210.us ;)

Mine is bought out, so i can't get it.

But yeah, depending on the number of geeks/nerds in your town, it might we worth it, or worthless. Also if the town is big, you might get a lot of hits.

so, if you have a choice of www.94211.com or www.SacramentoWeb.com which one do you pick? I would think SacramentoWeb would get more traffic.

94211 has a population of Sacramento, CA pop: 0, which makes the likelyhood of any clicks....at or near zero. I think zips do have value...that is directly proportional to the population of same.

Marchex seems to think they have value....zips go from $50 to nearly $20k....which is the price of 90210, before Marchex bought it.
