Please appraise this domain. I have several current offers $XX,XXX.

I am not a domainer. This sight has never been parked or monetized (except within the last week for testing).

Would I benefit from working with a broker? Should I list this on auction or sell outright?

Thanks for your help!

Starting with "US" certainly does make this a strong domain.

You would think since it closely resembles USPS.com it would get lots of traffic. Has an Alexa traffic ranking of about 2M and Compete shows 5K - 15K visitors in an average month.

I can't see it getting more than low $XX,XXX unless you found the perfect end user who had the money and had to have it.

Well the two most obvious buyers would be the United States Post Office and the United States Patent Office.

My thoughts on this would be to use a broker, but wait for input from more experienced members.( Which includes Brad who posted while I was typing )

Good Luck.

I doubt the US government would be a buyer for this. In fact I am not even sure how a decision like that would ever get made.

There are plenty of end users for it, but the offers are fair. It is a matter of how much the end user will pay at this point.

This domain has far more value end user wise than reseller wise.

If you have several bidders at xx,xxx, then you have a ready-made bidding war - maybe - if you were to put this to auction. I'd email everyone who has made an offer, send them to Sedo.com, and tell them you will begin a 7-day auction once one of them bids your reserve price (I assume it'll be low xx,xxx?). If multiple buyers offer you xx,xxx, then you know that is likely their 'starting point' and they may go considerably higher bidding against each other.

GL, nice name

Really appreciate the advice and feedback.

One of the offers is coming from a Sedo broker. If I were to approach a broker to help with the sale, it would likely be Sedo. Would there be a conflict of interest here if they are already representing a buyer?

Another option I've considered is to try parking the domain to earn revenue. This domain receives approx 18k avg visitors per month without any SEO. I'm not sure how long it would take to get the same return as an immediate sale would bring.

US Postal Service would deffiently want the name just to keep it out of scamers hands. But they might not be your top bidder. No matter what anyone does with it they will never pass usps on google for "uspo" in my opinion lol If you had it long you know if your $XX,XXX is max I think thats fair as since uspo is not TM as far as I can tell, the new owner really cant say their United States Post Office. Bet usps monitors the name and might have giving you offers in the past. Goodluck.

If I could suggest, take a quick look at the various govt. publications related to one of the agencies you are talking about.
Much of the printed material that is paid for by govt. money is in public domain. You could build a site and fill it with info that is searched for when someone is learning about patents as an example.
You create traffic and increase value and include some legal-patent type affiliate offers to earn money with the domain and later decide about selling it and at what price.
his is only if you are not satisfied with the offers on the table.
I would venture to suggest that a large company that represents those filing patent applications would buy such a domain and fill it with their links if enough related traffic, ect...

good luck,

I doubt it very much. Government entities get to operate on the .gov TLD - for the very reason of being "trusted". If your logic was true, wouldn't they also attempt to buy WhiteHouse.com, FBI.com, CIA.com....

Branding is one thing, but the government doesn't have to play on the same level as us common folks, thus they have no need for our TLDs.

The post office is run as its own company even though it is a gov agency. Cant compare it to FBI etc. UPSP lives in a world where .com is king and they know that. The stardard it should be a .gov dont apply on this one.

Nice Domain for mail forwarding company. USPS, MYUS both mail forwarding sites. Low xx,xxx is a good price IMHO

I would try to distance the name from any likelihood with USPS.

The US govt doesn't like it when people appropriate the acronyms of their govt agencies.
IRS to shut down IRS.com and other domains containing "IRS"?

Now I guess it can be used for something else than a mail forwarding business.
I agree that USPS or USPTO are not going to buy that name.

It seems to me that if you have $$,$$$ offers on the table, they are fair and I would set up an auction between all the buyers. You can just set a minimum price on Sedo, then ask the buyers to submit their bids and here you go, the auction is started.

I like this domain a lot, it is exceptionally brandable but you have your work cut out finding end users who have deep pockets enough, as Bmugford says in the first reply the obvious choice are the US post and patents offices...

I think the offers of $xx,xxx are very fair so I mirror the thoughts above, send it to auction and watch it from there :)
