It appears the domain industry has been starting to take notice of the .us namespace over the past year, read DnJournal.com .us growth and Namepros with even greater expectations for the year to come.

So I thought it would be a good idea to ask everyone to show us your .us domain names. You can post your favorites or your entire portfolio.

Found it. I am high bidder at $25. Will highest bidder take it or is there some minimum limit?

It is a no reserve auction so the highest bidder gets it.

Probably would have ended up a bidding war, at least you know a good name when you see it.

I personally don't invest in liquor related domain names, for personal not business reasons.

Actually Whiskey and Whisky are completely different products. Whiskey is American 'bourbon' style whilst whisky (also known as scotch) is made from single malt. The whole process is different for making each and they taste very different too. America is actually the largest market for whisky (scotch) in the world. If you examine past sales whiskey.com sold for $3m but is largely regarded as the less desirable product and therefore spelling of the two.

The real reason it sold so low is because it was my auction and I didn't shill bid it (a rarity for an auction at godaddy). Whoever got it for $211 got an absolute steal. I had a $1000 offer for it on here only a few months back....

Rant over :)

Regardless of spelling it was a great name imo. It's the wrong place to sell these types of names as the target market is never going to be participating there unless it's one of those fraction of 1% type of names. This is what you can expect and much less for lower quality. @garptrader has several posts regarding market saturation, etc. that articulates the situation better.

Still would like to know if anyone knows if the whois changed / sales completed for the large .US auctions. Those were the fraction of 1% type of names that probably would have brought in their target market, but can't confirm anything at this point. Did the sales during that time frame happen or not?

Where would you have sold it? I'm thinking Flippa might have been a better choice in hindsight.

If I could have held it I would have. It's potentially a million dollar name one day and has a solid reseller value right now of around $1000.

End user only sale. I will never use Flippa except possibly on the buying side (not going to debate this).

Its your job to make prospective endusers aware of your auction. Wide nets don't catch the best fish, you need to target them specifically.

The auction was promoted to various people within the industry but seemingly with no effect.

I think it was a great name and I am sorry I missed the auction I may have bid on it. I had some interest in it several months ago. Good luck to the buyer and seller!
