I think I got three good keywords, where both *.co.uk & *.eu extensions are available. But I don't have sufficient funds available. So I can register only *.co.uk or *.eu. My purpose is to re-sell the domains.

So which do you think has more re-sell value ? *.co.uk OR *.eu ?

I know that it depends on the keywords (*), but plz give your answers in general.

In your case, if you don't have sufficient funds, I suggest you to go with dot eu. But, if you have enough fund, go for .co.uk. For resell value, I would say that the value of .eu is lower than .co.uk.

Bear in mind once you've registered a .co.uk there is a £11.75 charge to legally transfer it (http://www.nominet.org.uk/registrants/maintain/transfer/). On the other hand .eu has a smaller market as nobody outside the EU can legally own it and perhaps an even smaller user base as there are a great number of people in the EU who don't want to be in it, ie the vast majority of the UK, French and Dutch populations.

Also bear in mind that .co.uk domains cost about half as much to register in the first place. .co.uk are about $5 on average and .eu about $10.

Tnx for the Nominet link.

What do you mean by "there is a £11.75 charge to legally transfer it" - what is this legal transfer ? Plz elaborate it.

But where can you register a *.co.uk domain at 5 bucks ? If you tell now, I will register the domain(s) now.

You said you were buying to re-sell.
.co.uk domain names are subject to a ownership transfer fee.
If you sell to another person, or company, for them to become the legal owner you have to pay the fee to Nominet.

.eu transfers are free.

PS- If you've got enough funds to buy three .eu domains, in your situation I'd get two .eu and three .co.uk which should be about the same amount (depending on where you buy from)

For a general keyword, go with .eu, because .eu covers more countries, and you may have more potential buyers from a wider market. For a keyword that is popular in UK or that can be targeted to UK, go with .co.uk which is a popular, targeted country domain extension-there are more UK businesses use .co.uk now.

if your business is specific to UK, then go with .uk. otherwise .eu is better

123-reg.co.uk are £2.59 a year, but there customer service really has gone to pot since they were taken over by pipex.

UK2.net are £1.99 a year but I have no experience with them.

enom is $5.99 a year with a reseller account which you can pick up free all over the place. I transferred all my .uk names here after 123-reg got taken over by pipex.
