Can anyone reg a .co.uk or is it like .ca's you got to be canadian. Also whats the value like for .co.uk's

I found a .co.uk domain thats available and is regged in .com .net .info .biz .us .org .mobi .ca .tv .de .eu

The .com .net .us are all developed sites and the .com is by far the biggest sportsbook website.

Also the resell value may not be high but I like it for development.

Sure anyone can reg, just remember that Nominet require paperwork and a fee when transferring/changing the registrant name so that affect low value domain trades, overall the UK market is growing and getting stronger each year.

I have no idea what a 'sportsbook' is , sorry !

so watch out for US - British differences:

store vs. shop
value? vs. cheap
close-out vs. sale

etc.

this would be one enormous list of ecommerce synonyms I think

many times I have found a great .com domain only to realise that it does not mean quite the same thing to US people

example: cheapholidays and its variations are BIG money spinners for domains in the UK because they mean something like budgetvacations (i think that is the US equivalent ..)

I would reiterate the comment above, Sports Book Review means nothing to the uk public (they would think its a review of books about sport infact rather than anything to do with gambling).

the numbers alone mean nothing , there are many things to consider , for example China`s population is above 1 Billion but their domains cost less than $1.
.net is pretty crap comprared to .com but domain sales are what it matters and Casino.co.uk just sold for 3 Million Pounds.....the .net won`t even get to 1 third of that.

There has been a recent publication by Sedo on some hard data, which shows while .de has a little more sales volume the actual worth for .UK is greater.

Sedo does not show the entire market, particularly for .UK, however it is good 'hard' evidence of what is going on out there.

I personally think the domain is not bad. Not great neither, but definitely not bad. If he develops a nice site around it, it will be valuable I think because the British are very heavily into sports anyway so any good sports-related site will do well in Britain.

And the paperworks for Nominet, that is just a relief that domain theft is going to be more difficult. If only more registries used this systems, domaining would be a lot safer.
