hi,

the uk market is very stong and they treat .tv as if it was .com here in the usa market. the same thing for .tv in the spanish market. russia market is also picking up but right now im only TALKING THE UK MARKET AND SPANISH MARKET.

so who takes 1st place in developments and in .tv?

unfortantly the usa market is probably a good 3 years min(if not more) behind these 2 powerful markets.

so explain your answers and why.. im talking branding, developing, names, vc or angel money roling into .tv in those market and major .tv hitters doing huge things...corporations, billboards and etc.

would be great to see some of the spanish natives in .tv do more posts here and who know the market. everyone is over at the spanish forum but .tv is turly happening over there.

now we have a lot of uk investors and developers, not so many in the spanish .tv market(who live in mexico or other hispanic community) here but there are a couple. so this is somewhat of an advantage towards the uk .tv investors here.

anyone can comment on this and explain by the way and lets keep on track on uk and spanish .tv market only. (yes russia is coming on strong, other places too but these 2 markets are the powerhouses imo).

Jeff,

I can't answer all your questions without further research but I will tell you, I think the spanish market and the chinese market are the 2 best markets and fastest growing markets worldwide. With technical issues/political going on with the Chinese market, I would say the spanish market in .tv has the most potential.

The UK market might be ahead in development and exposure which I really don't know the facts but when I buy spanish domains, I buy them based on the future and there is no better market than that. There are way more spanish speakers in the world than english speakers as well and the rate they are getting online is exploding. However, I love the UK market and what I hear from the UK members here that .tv is really taking off. It's too bad in the United States they don't seem to see the vision as both the UK market and the Spanish market. Thank God, there is a hell of a lot more to the internet than the US market.

Thanks, Jim

Much as I'd LOVE to say the TV market in the UK is equitable to that of the co.uk or .com markets, the reality is that this is just not the case.

It is the case that .TV is extremely popular, and probably better understood and appreciated than in North American arena.

In continental Europe, from where I write now, the acceptance of .Tv is not too far behind the UK. I think I told the story of why I began to add .TVs to my TV.com collection - it was after seeing a great big line of television trucks covering a big event at Dusseldorf airport and they ALL had .TV on their livery.

TV is popular in the UK, but still has quite some way to go.

The biggest hurdle has been overcome. Most people don't go 'pardon', 'say that again' or 'what you saying' when you offer a domain name that ends .TV

As for the language order in which I would go myself - based purely on what languages people are ACTUALLY encouraged to learn in the business world. These would be..

1 English
2 Spanish
3 Mandarin Chinese
4 French
5 Arabic
6 Japanese
7 German
8 Russian
9 Portuguese
10 Italian

Jimbo,

I assume you included Portugese due to the fact that it is heavily populated Brazil's national language.

It is certainly the case that many Catalan channels in Spain are using the .TV extension.

One of my favourite sites (purely wonderful filming) is

http://balzac.tv/

The presenter Gina Tost is also a real delight and her antics are followed almost religiously by at least one of the guys who works with me.

Regarding the Spanish market, .COM is still king but if one can get a one-word comercial .TV domain it is likely a good investment (non-premium renewals of course). I do know of one developer in the Spanish market with an awesome portal....

From my prospective, in the past 6-8 months, I've had growing interest in many of my Spanish .TV domains. Two that have generated the most interest and offers: ecomomico.tv and financiero.tv. In addition, I have a lengthy portfolio of one word spanish .tv and think this market is only going to get stronger.

I have not done in depth research on the Spanish market, but it seems like the underlying news and facts are difficult to deny what's happening with the market. There is significant online growth and the .TV extension is being highly recognized. Even on a reseller level, folks are turning down $XX,XXX offers. It will all depend on the end user acceptance.

These are some threads to check out:

I feel the same way you do. In fact, my very first .tv name I ever purchased in 2000 was Pornografia.tv which has made good money in parking revenue and good type-in traffic. My highest offer of all my .tv's which are somewhere around 150+, has been Espanol.tv. I would not trade my spanish porfolio for my english portfolio in both .com and .tv.

Thanks, Jim

Thanks Jeff, I'm glad to hear that you are so enthusiastic, you should be with so many great Spanish domains.

Here's my opinion/forecast: in an est. 1.5 - 2 years when the economy is back on track and convergence drives new tv technology, quality .tv domains are going to fetch big dollars. This is why I'd suggest to anyone with good .tv domains, hold on to them, they will offer decent returns in the very near future.

I totally agree. If you can afford to hold on to your quality names do so, unless you get a great offer or are financially strapped. I would hate to hear people in
2-3 years say, "why did I sell that great .tv name back in 2008".

Thanks, Jim
