.uk .UK domain name release

Is anyone registering .UK domains? They opened registration for anyone and there's a bunch of great one-word domains up for grabs. I haven't heard much about this extension on this forum and wanted to know all of your take.

UK residents already owning the .CO.UK extension received first dibs of its equivalent but now it's open registration. These .UK names seems to be much more better and catchy than .co.uk, but we'll see how things go. I suppose it's still too early to say.

There's still many great domains up for grab.

What I meant is that I have one or two

Two keyword. uk

Domains that I bought before today at reg fee etc

The reason that it may have said waiting for validation etc is because even though you ore registered or back ordered the website address etc it means there are more than 1 person that has back ordered the website address and they would need to see across all the other websites where it was pre registered of you like to see who pre registered it first etc before putting it in to someone's account etc

I assume it's the same process as when a person pre registered a Gtld

Think how many registrars there are across the world where a person could pre register a domain name etc and trademarks as I assume it's Trademarked as it's quite good etc

From my backorders so far SnapNames were able to catch "Coin /uk". 34 bidders.
I pre-Reg this on go daddy but got refunded, how was I not included in auction? ☹️

Here's an article I came across recommending businesses get a .uk domain name.

https://www.techradar.com/news/why-your-business-needs-a-uk-domain

Do we know when the exact time the
.uk Website addresses were available to buy yesterday and how long the auction lasted etc and on what website etc

I'm from the uk so I bought what I wanted at reg fee as and when I wanted it before the pre reg etc so didn't have any pre reg etc as had no need to etc but it was a significant moment in the digital landscape for the uk yesterday so I'd love to know exact time it went live and people were saying it took about half a second etc

Silentptnr started the perfect thread with the perfect heading at the perfect time, to Showcase UK names. Would be nice if Admin would re-open it - The Release has gone. We're onto the Showcase now.

expireddomains.net shows ZERO .uk drops, although there is more than a million. Very strange. Normally they show .uk drops.

Probably cause they're not your average drop. They didn't drop as usual into the list of available names, they were available only to registrars.

I was spraying some wd40 on some hinges and I noticed the name wd40.co.uk on the side of the can. I checked wd40.uk and it's been snapped up by someone during this release. I'm astounded at the number of companies that didn't bother to get their .UK names.

Do you mean handregging (no backorders) is not possible?

Backordering was possible, but it was only to registrars that had signed up and followed the process to be eligible. Plus they weren't expired names, they were newly created names, I wonder if that made a difference also.

Does anyone know what was the final bid for coin /uk? I was bidding on this domain, but I wasn't home when the bidding ended and SnapNames mobile is useless, you can't see the highest bid over the phone, just your own bid. They also do not show auction history. GPS /uk sold for $1,004 tho.

Yes just shows you they don’t want .uk and co.uk is here to stay
