.tv TVxx.TV - A rich new vein of unmined names?

Just bought a raft of four letter TVxx.TV names such as TVNL.TV (TV Netherlands) TVNH.TV (TV New Hampshire) TVPA.TV (TV Pennsylvania), TVAA.TV (just too nice to ignore) etc.

Four things -

(1) I think they are a wonderfully concise collection of names and would like to share my find so others can join in.

(2) Several possible variants of these names were missing already so does anyone here have any experience of this kind of name?

(3) Are four-letter .Tv in their own right ever going to bring the same kind of interest as those for .com?

(4) Am I nuts to mine into this particular vein of names? (the 'am I crazy doing this' moment just reared its horrible head and made me feel the need for the counsel of others)

Any thoughts much appreciated.

NOTE: The last time I informed the world about a free name it was snapped up within seconds - yet not even a thank you in the thread. Will we soon all have to send each other PMs with ideas and thoughts for fear of those who just want to take and not share info.

I think this is another option for development.

I have seen some .com versions of this model.

I would not freak out about it, might be another good defensive reg, or a last resort for keyword you really want.

I'm sure some people would argue it is horrible to reg a TVkeyword.TV, but it depends on what you are planning on doing with it.

I think it is another option, and im sure there could be a few gems created out of it, but probably if they are developed.

I don't get it at all. Would rather own a geo channel.tv or geo tv.tv then this format.

Just my thoughts. I am sure you will get more positives and I am curious what others have to say on this.

Just dosent look right, dosent sound right and looks goofy to me.

Sorry.

Now if your a developer then I would say attempt this.

We all appreciate tips and I thank people in giving there advice. Richard came up with the discover concept and I thanked him. Sorry hear about the response.

Good luck.

I agree with Jeff on this one. Your money would be better spent buying some of the excellent .tv's available in the aftermarket at the moment IMO.

I agree with this quote exactly.
Poor / Average .tv's are not selling just now so instead of buying 10, 20 that sounds OK or may work in the future, just save all the money and buy 1,2 decent domains in the aftermarket.

There is some very good domains in the aftermarket right now at low $xxx in my experience.

ronnie, i wish i had that train of thought when i bought to much last year....
hu
to the newer .tv people, you can only carry so many names and .tv names...buy a few top notch names vs grabbing things... .

sorry for the lecture...i dislike lectures but trying give some sound advice.....the yearly renewals will add up very fast.....invest in areas that you know of or see a huge future of...for me i see eccomerce .tv taking off and video...so i bought toners.tv from sanchay last year and own 10 or so solid print cartridge names since i am in the business....then i am holding my forex names and porn related names...

now with you and your names- you can only decide on what to grab....

sorry if this sounds odd, too agressive, but just reflecting with me....then my next step is to form a platform this year eventually after some delays and keep the names i love and cant let go.....

now, the twist to this is buying names, flip them, and etc....i wanted do that and i sold some nice names for some nice sales and many names i sold for losses...its a tough market out there.

dont mean to pass any judgements on your names, i hardly know you or know what your agenda is...the only thing i know is that your a geo investor i believe

Jeff,

No probs -I'm really happy to listen to everyone's view - how else will we all stay away from making BIG mistakes.

If anything, its nice to know that some people on this forum actually care about the welfare of similar souls.

I actually bagged 50 of these particular type of name - and, as you noted correctly, I am predominantly a geo person - mostly all were the two letter code for either a US state or an independent country. My reasoning was simple - the maths suggest that there will only be 26 x 26 TVxx.TV names available using the standard alphabet (676). There was also the cultural element, in the fact that many around the world actually put the TV BEFORE the subject (eg France, Spain)

So, I have TVBE.tv (Belgium) TVFI.tv (Finland) TVMX.tv (Mexico) TVKR.tv (South Korea), TVJP.tv (Japan).

I've taken onboard everything that has been said so far, but even so, am still very happy with my purchase.

The proof, they say, is in the pudding and the fact that many of the ones I left behind for others to grab have NOT been picked up today - suggests, once again, that I am flowing in a different direction to conventional wisdom.

Sometimes this is the greatest place to be - sometimes the worst place to be - you only know after a period of time and an emptying, or refilling of the wallet. (Bit like Belgium really)

One thing is sure - I have fifty of them - time on my side - and a crazy idea that I can develop as many as possible.

i have plenty of acronyms , in .info .com and .tv ....... as we rape the english language , acronyms are the next step , numbers and mis-spellings and hyphens will all become common

example is witvg*com = world internet tv guide ...... and so on.

Personally, I don't like TVxx.TV & feel that there is money to be spent in better places.

Just be ready to hold on to them for a couple of years and you'll be amply rewarded. This is not a TLD for the faint of heart. Or the short of cash. :)
