Transferring out of Moniker?

Hello everyone,

So I currently have a domain that is now expired (as of May 30, 2014) with Moniker. I have been trying to transfer the domain out of them to Name.com, and while everything has been approved via email on my side, Name.com is saying that the domain isn't coming through because Moniker needs to release it.

I have sent Moniker an email regarding this, but have not heard a reply from them yet.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

After Moniker has changed, a lot of things have really become a big hassle....

As long as the domain name is unlocked and the transfer is confirmed with Name.com as the gaining registrar, then Moniker has to eventually release the name.

Of course, that's if Moniker got the transfer request in the first place...

The Whois record has to show the status as "OK" or otherwise "Client Delete Prohibited" (and nothing aside from that) or it will not transfer. It should actually show as "Pending Transfer" or something to that effect also in the Whois record.

Which is astonishingly horrible seeing as I can get a transfer completed between Godaddy and Name in less time than it takes to drink a full cup of coffee.

Yep. I know. I just transferred some domains from NetSol and GoDaddy. NetSol got the same policy as Moniker. But I was only answering the OP's questions. I wasn't making any recommendations.

STUD: if you can please shed some light, I am trying to get all my domains from moniker, I unlocked but the new registrar is telling me the names are still locked (and they are) moniker sent me the auth codes etc

What in the world can I do to get those names away ?

Any help from you or anyone would be very helpful

It's stub not stud. I actually had a bit of luck with Moniker because all my SnapNames purchases before the transfer to NetSol, which were in my old Moniker account, and were in my new Moniker account, but couldn't do anything with them, Moniker dumped the whole lot of them onto NetSol. I think I read someplace that they did this for all the old Moniker domains, dumping them onto NetSol. So I only had to deal with the NetSol BS. Before these domains were transferred, I was trying to transfer out of Moniker. One thing I noticed was I had to unlock the domains 2 or 3 times before the unlock stuck. So keep trying and check the whois status is: OK. Then try to transfer again.

I got a ton of names, would take forever, maybe this is a new job for someone unlocking moniker names

Thanks for all the information everyone. My domain is on client delete prohibited and it has been way more than 6 days. Name.com says it does not know when the ETA is after the 6 days has passed. I will try to lock the domain and process the transfer again to see if that helps at all. Moniker changing hands has really caused a lot of unnecessary headache... :(

I have a follow up question. So Moniker has sent me an email saying that I don't need to do anything for the transfer to go through. However, I was also given a link to https://icann-transfers.key-systems.net/. Should I 'Request' or 'Deny' my domain? The link that Moniker gave me already has it denying.

No need to do anything. On new moniker, the link is only for denying. No link for approving.
Just wait until 6 days, and login to your name.com and check the transfer status.
If it's still pending X days, wait until the next day :) (it happened to me)

the transfer will still work if it says 'clientdeleteprohibited' it just can't say 'clienttransferprohibited'.

By all means do NOT click that link! It will cancel the transfer order and you will be SOL.

Oh crap, what happens if I already clicked that link that Moniker sent me? Should I fill out that form that AEProgram linked to?

just clicking the link doesn't do anything, you would of had to select 'deny' on the page the link sent you to. if you did that, your transfer won't go through. if you didn't do that, it should.

Not true. At least with the "old" Moniker, simply clicking the link cancels the transfer. In my experience there was no choice to "accept" the transfer using the link. I had to redo the transfer request.

No other registrar does this that I'm aware of. Totally scummy.

with the new moniker you have to confirm it on the page the link takes you to.

This is the first time I'm transferring an expiring domain from Moniker. I put in the transfer 3 weeks before expiration. This (2nd week till), I receive an invoice to send money to a Wells Fargo bank account. Are they trying by all means possible to keep names?
