Transferring domains from euroDNS - Anyone ever managed to break out of "the vault" ?

heh ... did a quick search and don't see much about hoops to jump through in order to transfer a domain out of euroDNS ...

Since I am selling a few of my LLLL.com out of "the vault" at euroDNS, I thought I better see what would be involved in transferring a domain out of there - expecting some buyers might ask about that ...

So yesterday I initiated a transfer for one domain to go over to GoDaddy (transfer initiated from GoDaddy - email sent to address in the domain contact info, next step is to confirm with the EFP auth code ...)

I couldn't find any trace of EFP auth code in the euroDNS web interface, so I put in a support ticket asking where I could find this info. Got the reply -> I'll need to submit written request, and a copy of my passport ...

Okay ... I have heard of such registrars but never actually dealt with jumping through these hoops. No worries, I'm up for the challenge (though not sure if many buyers would be happy to try to do the same in a hurry when renewal time comes around). I'll follow up with the euroDNS support folks to try to get the details which they didn't see fit to provide in their first reply - ie, can I submit my request by fax, or will they require registered mail delivered via corn-fed carrier pigeon, or what ...

Anyone had any experience successfully prying a domain loose from euroDNS ...? Please share any tips - I'm really hoping it's not going to be too much of a hassle ...

That sounds fishy. Can't they simply provide the code on request? What TLD is the domain?

The tld is .com

LLLL .com (with apologies to Ian Flemming & 007) :)

I made it clear I just needed the EFP auth code ... (though my original inquiry is now buried in their support ticket system, here is the response I got)
Subject [EDNS Support #JSW-XXXXX-XXX]: need auth code to transfer domain out of euroDNS

Dear Customer,

we need a signed document and a copy from your passport to initialize the transfer.

Greetings
and that's all she wrote ....

that's not a userfriendly system :)

much like one german registrar where I got a few .eus for 1eur, I can't even change DNS servers, they want me to fax them a signed permission :)

I just sent a reply requesting clarification. Waiting for their response ... Hopefully they'll provide sufficient details for me to jump through required hoops without too much more back-and-forth.

hello, thanks for your help. Please advise as to details for the signed document and proof of identity. Would a copy of my drivers license instead of passport suffice for this purpose? Please note: this is not a change of ownership for the domain, but a transfer to my own account at another registrar.

As far as I can tell, this should be a standard procedure normally requiring only the EFP code. Most registrars provide this information online while still maintaining good security (ie, compare with Moniker.com) ...

Thanks.

I'd be very interested to hear their responce Filter. Their domain management console is shockly un-userfriendly but I have never done a transfer away from EuroDNS. I have seven names I will transfer away when I can so any info is grately appreciated! :)

well ... ask and ye shall receive - reminded me to check my email just now. At least they are prompt. (And after all the hours I've spent wrangling with the SlowDaddy interface, my bar for "user-friendly" is fairly low now!)

And, hey, looks like good news!
Dear Customer,

our staff agent told me that it will be work without documents, i´m sorry.

You must unlock your domain in your account and the auth-code is sending to that email address: [email protected].

With the auth-code can your new registrar start the transfer.

Greetings

to which I have requested yet further clarification:
Great - thanks so much for your help and prompt response!

Can I then expect that the EFP auth code will be sent to my email address only by request ?

Or would this be automatic once I unlock a domain ?

Thanks for your help - much appreciated!

Best regards

They probably mean that they will send the EFP auth code to the contact e-mail when you request it. Wonder what language that nice assistant speaks natively :):):)

I'm sure it would be delicious to hear over the phone, and I would forget all about my silly notions of transferring my little domains out of the vault ...

Sure enough, the EFP code was in my inbox when I checked again. So, now doing the "5 days without a contrary reply" transfer hangtime after plugging the auth code into the SlowDaddy, but should be a done deal ...

That's a relief. I better go edit a few of my eBay listings now (where I mentioned this potential show-stopper ("your papers please!") in an attempt to warn off any buyers who might give me endless grief about complications trying to transfer later ...)

I used to joke about "the Norwegian's vault" ... Truth is stranger than fiction! But fortunately, it's okay - not a "1-and-1" type horror story for this one!

Now if I could just figure out how to change the contact info for all my 50+ domains there in a single operation ... The whois for a big chunk of them still points to Oslo ...! (Have been going through them one at a time, a few each day so as not to go too batty pointing / clicking / refreshing 400 times in a row ...)

Changing the contact info is a pain. Did you save the contact (My Profile > Contacts)? Then you just have to select it in the drop-down. Also you can do several changes (change all contacts) before validating the modifications.

yeah, got the drop down. Just have to drop it down 4 times per domain ... times 50 domains ... feh. Doing a few a day, just another 20 or so to go now. :)

well, at least euroDNS doesn't pull the "60 day no transfer out (for security) after modifying contact info" BS like GoDaddy (and who else?) like to do ....

Have the same problem, want to transfer my two domains from eurodns to GD. Wrote them two weeks ago, there were no answer. I wrote today another message:

I want to transfer my two domains to my own account at another registrator. Could you please provide me with EFP auth code for the transfer. Domains to be transferred are: uwsz.com and vzkd.com (both are unlocked already).

Thank you in advance.

Hope to get the answer soon :)

I had few .eu domains at german registrator united-domains, they required signed fax (i think without pass copy) to be send to them :). However, after I sent the fax, domains were transferred in 1 day. Estdomains provides the auth codes on its website, but takes full 5 days before it makes transfer. Its better to have the domains at one registrator imho, therefore I decided to consolidate all mine at slowdaddy.

You can only unlock domains that support it (.com .net etc)

In the domain details there is a link next to the Lock/Unlock status

Ask Eurodns support for the domain auth code then initiate a transfer from Moniker.

No reply until now. It is terrible!!! Just send them the third request.

Their page is faster than SlowDaddy's one but it is the only positive I can see about them. :'(

Internal push is easier than GoDaddy too IMO ...

But EuroDNS truly does seem to be a "domainer vault" ...

I am now waiting for another EFP auth code, this one for a transfer to be done for a buyer of one of my LLLL.com on eBay. Still less than 24 hours since I submitted the request for this one, hopefully won't be weeks to hear back - will see ...

EuroDNS seems to be a branch of Dotster by way of mydomain.com ... (a tangled web, not sure if they are resellers or direct subsidiary or what.)

hi Vlad ... I wonder what's going on with that ...

I received another auth code just now (9 hours after submitting the request) ... (Support rep's name was "Nuno", for whatever that's worth).

here is how I worded my request:
hello, I am transferring ----.com from EuroDNS to my own account at another registrar.

I have unlocked ----.com and now will need the EFP transfer authorization code to be sent to me.

I have done a similar process already for another domain here (----.com) and also had to submit a support request to receive the EFP authorization code for that one (------------)

Would I be able to use that same EFP authorization code for the new transfer? Or will I have to wait to receive a different EFP authorization code?

I may be transferring several more domains in the next few days, so would appreciate if the process to obtain the EFP authorization codes for each domain would be as smooth (and quick) as possible ...

Thanks very much for your help with this!

Best regards,
Response was just to send me a new auth code, and wish me a nice day. Good enough for me for now though ....

I am not getting any reply. I hope hotmail not blocking it

I try to change the email and try once again.

By the way, do you use their contact form on the page for submitting the request or send an email to them?
---------------------------------------------------------
After I spoke once again with filter, it looks like there was a problem with my "hotmail" email in communication with EuroDNS: either EuroDNS did not accept support tickets if your email is at hotmail or hotmail was blocking the messages from EuroDNS. Anyway, I did not receive any support ticket confirmation.

I just changed my email to another (non public email) and repeated the request. Aftewards I got "confirmation". Now I am waiting for the answer from EuroDNS. I will keep you informed.
