I signed up for a new Bluehost web hosting account 15 days ago and I also registered a new domain with Bluehost for this hosting account. However, I no longer need this hosting account, so I'm going to cancel it, but I want to keep the domain.

I want to transfer this domain to my Namecheap account - I found this tutorial on how to do that: https://www.namecheap.com/support/k...207/83/how-to-transfer-a-domain-from-bluehost - However, my problem is that my domain is not 60 days old yet.

I wonder how should I proceed in order to not lose my domain?

Or will Bluehost cancel this domain when I cancel my Bluehost hosting account? - So will I then be able to register that domain again - as a new domain?

was this domain a "free" domain, included as part of a webhosting package?

Yes, it was free with my web hosting package. It's the main and the only domain of my Bluehost hosting account.

I think if it came free with the hosting, then it is unlikely they will let you keep it for nothing if you cancel the account.

Are you on a monthly payment schedule? If the domain is important to you, you may need to keep your account open for the 60 days you need before you can transfer the domain away,

What you may want to ask them is if you can pay their retail domain price to keep the name if you cancel the hosting.

What happens to the domain may depend on how their domains are registered and what they do with their expired/cancelled domains - and whether they are an accredited Icaan registrar or a reseller.

Are the domain's whois details actually registered under your own name - or under Bluehost's details?

If they are an enom reseller, then who knows - the domain might end up being sold for auction at NameJet.
