In domaintools.com, I monitor a lot of my domains. I saw some indicating registrar "Top Class Names" which I've never heard of. Wondering what was going on, I started looking deeper, only to find these names are actually at registerfly.com. A google search took me to this page, which is a cached copy of the internic registrar list:
http://chnm.gmu.edu/digitalhistory/links/cached/chapter2/2_22a_internic.htm
Clicking on top class names takes you to a page listing registerfly.com.
However, the real list of registrars at internic does not show a top class names at all.

topclassnames.com resolves to an "under construction" page. The whois for topclass names is the following:
This would make it appear that topclassnames is registered at resellersclub, which is owned by Directi. The domain is owned by logicboxes who sells software to registry and hosting companies and helps registars get accredited. The tangled mess is more confusing the more I look. I have never had these domains at directi or any of their resellers. It is really confusing to see your domain at a registrar you have never heard of. Yet, some other domains at registerfly actually say registerfly.com. as the registrar, so there is no consitency.
Look here http://www.registrarstats.com/Default.asp and you will see topclass names listed as the #3 fastest growing registrar, with registerfly listed below it at #13.
At this point, I don't know if registerfly has purchased and merged this unknown registrar, is starting under another name, is a sister company of this new registrar, an alias/clone (aka enom and sipence), or has another reseller service for them. Maybe their registry software is just misconfigure for the registrar name. Any way you look at it, it's very strange.
To see what I'm talking about, you can use this domain: Divecomputers.info. a whois shows it at registerfly.com, inc., but when put in the monitoring list at domaintools.com, the registrar says Top Class Names. Maybe it's just domaintools.com pulling the data from an odd place. The whois for this domain shows a registrar ID of (R318-LRMS). If you go to affilias, the registrar listed for that number is Top Class Names, Inc. as seen here:
http://www.afilias.info/cgi-bin/registrar-id.cgi
By the numbering, it is also one of the newest .info registrars, and "registerfly.com is not listed at all as a .info accredited registrar. Anyone have any idea how they are related?
