I will believe in it's possibility until the year 2016 changes into 2017 - sometimes things happen in the last second.
There is no disadvantage to believe in possibilities

the year 2016 is over* and the year 2017 has begun*.

So, related to this (my) thread, I knowww, it's time for a statement by my side.
No problem, it's my pleasure, here is it.

As of today, 01 / 01 / 2017, the official registration numbers** are:

.xyz 6,045,181**
.top 4,316,725**

As we can see, the TLD .xyz stands above the TLD .top at this moment* - ok.
Thats why I have to 'admit' nowww, that my all time strong guess, ''that .top will stay above .xyz before the year 2016 will be over'' has surprisingly not became true.

But 'xyz' ('anyway'), newww year, newww chance!
I am s u r e that .top will be on top in future!!
In this sense, all the best for 2017+, may our ways lead us to the top!!!

I think we will see a few million names dropped this year. Some domainers have invested in bizarre names that have less value than toilet paper.

I would say that only good one word names, short acronyms (chips preferable) and short numerals have any value in these two extensions.

Could you kindly explain to us why do you consider them the most succesful tlds?
And please don't talk about number of regs, this parameter simply means nothing (especially when they cost a penny).
Succesful tlds, in my opinion, means a good aftermarket interesting.
For these extensions (.top especially) do not exist any interest.
No market, no offers, no sales = fail tlds.
IMHO.

Ok, as this thread is reopened, I see a reason to reply.

I am convinced that .top is one of the most successfull new TLDs because I am convinced that it will be the most successfull TLD of all TLDs in future.

We have to go with the time if we want to get to the top.
What counts is, what we do with what we have.
We have many opportunities.
One opportunity is to take new chances.
According to domains, in my opinion, the TLD .top is the best example.

I would say, the whole life is a big mantra which contains many small mantras.
Everyone has his mantra/s, so there is more behind than you think.
I know why I registered mantra.top a long time ago.

Currently .xyz is over .top and really, my congrats to the .xyz registry and all .xyz domain owners.
But .top will take over .xyz. at some point in history, I warn you.

Simply because it's the most logical thing since .top exist - a TopLevelDomain named .top must take over all TLDs at some point - otherwise it wouldn't be named .top - but it is named .top and not .xyz - and that's the decisive difference between .xyz and .top.

In other words:

If we read / hear '.xyz', it reads / sounds 'disoriented' - because it goes in all axis, directions:
x, y, z = ?

But if we read / hear '.top', it reads / sounds 'oriented' - because it goes in one direction:
up, to the top = !
