Tired of Vista Domains

Hello all my pals and non-pals
I am simply tired of seeing all the vista domains
I just want to ask you all vista reg people somethiing
How can you value a product even before it is released?
I am a Microsoft certified Professional and Microsoft certified System Administrator
I know that MS XP is very good and works on a system with 64 mb min ram
MS official expectation of longhorn or the new vista is to only work on systems with 256 mb min ram
so i definitely am thinking about its popularity gain for it
MS XP being released in 2001 got popular only by 2004 mostly
you can argue that it was in 2003 but no says the official records
So its absolutely dump according to me to expect popularity for a yet unleashed product and that too an OS to be immediate
It will be only popular if there is a radical rapid transition in hardware specs of people using systems using throughout the world
Plus, is it a client OS or a Standalone OS?
Nothing is yet known
So dont be foolish and buy vista domains wasting money
Domains like vistaforums will gain popularity i assure since many dont know what vista will be and will look for info in such domain reg sites
Also appraisers like me are definiely unable to appraise a domain whose content is not yet specific nor made public
So sorry for all vista maniacs out there
Its simple old me..I love MS..I love Windows..But i definitely am not interested in Vista until its BETA 2 is released

I have also search the avaibale vista names and find some, but finally resist the temptation to reg one! I can not say I will not regist one vista name in the future, but I will only register vista names I believe it is 100% worth reg!

There's never a logic in speculation. Like I mentioned before, a single tulip could be traded for acres of land and houses in medieval Holland. It's only after the dust had settle, that the true value become obvious.

Still, I'm quite confident that the following Vista suffixes will be valuable, irregardless of whether there's mass windows upgrade or not - news, forum, themes, wallpaper, screensaver, icons, files & keygen.

Personally, I can see where Xyris is coming from.

However, the bottom line is, with any "new" product, irrelevant of market, there is a "storm" of new reg's. It's something the registra's are loving. BUT.....never forget, Domain Investments, and investment is the key word, is as it says. You never know. Your "hope" it'll do well, and you own that gem.....

The whole industry is based on a) love and b) speculation.

New tld rushes, aside, I have a solid 5-6 categories that I've gotten into during the early stages of an emerging name category or technology- some within hours of being announced to the general public- the kind of searches where you have to rush to the registrar and reg, because waiting an hour, (and, in some cases, only 5-10 minutes!- something that recently happenned to me no less than 3 times, in another category, BTW), means that you've waited too long. Even w/ Vista, there were 4 names that I paused overnight on, that were gone the next day.

No doubt, it is very easy to get crazy and over-reg in these situations, but new terms, trends, and tech offer todays domainer the rare oppurtunity of getting in on something that is ahead of the curve, and therefore, many of us will jump in, w/ visions of the early .com days dancing in our heads, and assume the risk. These "rushes" to register names based upon new and emerging products and services, will always be a part of domain, and domain name marketing. The registrars will continue to love it- it is part of their lifeblood-, and the early birds who nabbed the choicest names- the ones that will be a natural draw for visitors or that will bring a good return on investment through a sale, will also be loving it. Some, including, myself, from time to time, will become weary of all of the excitement and hype that surrounds these events- events that everyone else seems to be so wildly and overly enthusiastic about. Most of us have been on both sides of this fence.

Other than sheer luck, (and goodness knows, it's nice when that comes around!), figuring out where to draw the line that seperates the good and the averege names in new, emerging categories, breaks down to our domaining skill level and abilities, and how well we stay on top of the avail info- from within the domain marketing world and the emerging field that we are concentrating on. This really applies to all name registrations, in general, but the need for this preparation becomes magnified, when we are in the rush mode, often relying on instinct, and need to think and act fast, or else, lose out.

My digital cam just decided to give me exposure probs, or I would have linked you to a picture. Nicely shaped black baseball cap, Windows logo w/ WindowsVista℠ underneath.
Hmm... Time to go through the MS shopping bag full of discs she laid on me. Let's see... What do we have here... Virtual Server2005, hmm a couple of beta demos still w/ code names, some System Center security stuff, ahh 64 bit this and 64 bit that. Oh! and more.

Vista domains have no value imho.. there are too many of them... I mean vistanews,vistaforums,vistathemes are good but this is going the same way as xbox360.. do you know how many xbox360 forums there are?? I suggest you register a domain you think has value, not a domain that everybody registers

Granted, there is alot of buzz that surrounds the release of a new tld, a strong performance in a particular sector of e-commerce, and following important announcements about new product releases etc, and a herd mentality can develop. But to say that "Vista domains have no value imho.. there are too many of them..." is overstating the case a bit.
For one thing, every name category is overstocked and only a relatively small percentage of names registered in any category can be expected to achieve success. You say , "there are too many of them". You are probably right, but that applies to all domains names- there are too many domain names registered, period- Vista isn't the exception to the rule. In addition, what motivates a large number of people to register a large quantity of names in a particular category, can't be explained away, merely, as the result of people following the lead of what "everybody" else is doing. People are drawn to particular name categories because they see potential and often because they want to "register a domain [they] think has value."

If I'm understanding you correctly, basically, you are saying that there are too many, (Vista) domain names that have been registered, you don't think that, (at least, most), Vista names have any value, and, therefore, are not going to reg any because you believe that there are better names to register, that have more value, and you suggest that other people follow your lead. Tx. I'll take that into consideration.

Gotcha. Good advice. When you get to the point where you are sweating the whois for names of that calibre, and they start looking good to you because nothing else is left, it's time to take a break and get away from searching for awhile, (or longer), because, now, you know that.. you have just entered... The Twilight Zone.
