I don't know why ppl are bashing the potential of xyz here.
If there is a new extension that has the biggest potential, it looks like it's going to be xyz.
Don't take my word for it, just look at the numbers.

You can't expect a 1 year old extension to be priced comparably to .com in the after market now.
I will be more than happy if .xyz can match .net or .org values in future.
As many have said, its a long term play.

All markets grow
I understand points you are making but I am referring to fact that look at the many other nTld's and the reg fee potential renewal costs yet people still role with them. As someone mentioned here most of them maybe just for certain industry or something along that path and .xyz is suppose to kind of like .com is now, right?

But then you look at .xyz it's much cheaper to hand register and renew even comparing to nTld's which (irrelevant to .com or other established extensions) it still has to compete with..

.xyz is so cheap and yet people still aren't picking up all the keyword domains, If I invested a lot of money in .xyz names I would've been very worried and would look to sell mine as soon as I can. Anyway that's just my opinion!

I don't have full information on all .xyz sales but according to this post

''The highest .xyz sale is deals.xyz so far for $8113, followed by three another 4 figure sales (cloud.xyz for $6600, customer.xyz for $1999 and ccc.xyz for $1210). There is no more public 4 figure sale for a .xyz and there is no 5 or 6 figure sale at all. The best one word .xyz domains are sold at auction by Namejet and despite of the intensive promotion, most of these names are sold for 2 figures or low 3 figures, which is a typical registration price of other nTLDs.''
Read more http://domain.tips/xyz/

Is not looking good, if you ask me..

Even if .xyz sales were to pick up don't you think there will be any new Tld's released to compete with already existing ones and especially with .xyz?

Ok, I understand what you say, but must also understand the time when the . xyz appears, xyz or any other extencion can not behave like .com, in other words if the .xyz was the first extension You would have a contrary opinion.

Therefore, say that the .com is the king forever It has no clear justification.

You're funny buddy ... I spent four figures on some of my XYZ names because I do see the future !
Four figures on 'some' of your .xyz names. So how much have you wasted in total ?
I can understand that you are slightly infatuated with the TLD and your names in particular. Of course, when you have 'invested' a lot of money in something, the prospect of failure is a very unpleasant thought, but are you sure you are being objective ? There are so many other TLDs...

You don't really follow this thread but to bash it but if you go back a couple posts I announced it and you can see what I own !
I'm not seeing him bashing the TLD, just putting some perspective. He's being very reasonable imho. He's right, in terms of resale value, .xyz is below .biz.

Enjoy the Past and will Enjoy the Future !
Speaking of past and future, it's interesting that the most vocal supporters of new extensions are always newcomers. But at renewal time they have already vanished from the forum :P
This is a fact confirmed by countless threads produced over the last 10 years.

IMO it's not about the past or the future. It is about the present. I can only speak for myself, but I want to make sales, and not be a domain collector. So I focus on the names that people are buying at the present. It doesn't mean not being alert to new trends.
Living in tune with present reality is not being stuck in the past.

There is not a better GTLD and the statistics prove this !
Which ones ? Remember that we are dealing with a registry that makes a lot of fluff and likes to inflate numbers too.

How do you know, if I do or don't fallow these threads? Just because I don't give people hope saying how great .xyz is, because it isn't!!

Besides, If you look for similar treads on this forum I voiced my opinions earlier, when Google just picked up .xyz when apparently, .xyz was about to explode over night, it didn't happen.. It calmed down so people realized nothing special will happen with .xyz until someone else jumped on the bandwagon..

Sad truth is some newbies sign up here and will spend lot of money because, someone say ''it's great opportunity to get rich in few years'' but for majority it won't be..

I almost fell for same trap when .co become next .com (or better, because it's shorter), luckily I didn't had much money to waste on it then, thanks god for that :D

Find similar tread on other extensions just from year or few years back and see how many similarities you can draw to what you sayingguys! I almost pisXXX my self laughing reading some of those threads from time back, but for fact that some people are in agony because it's too late to get that $ back now!

Even If it was between .co and .xyz right now, which one would you say made more sense, just be honest here please!!

You know what's funniest? When people who been on this forum for years, join these discussion voice their opinion and warn you, their opinion almost imminently seem to be dismissed with fallowing;

You all just sitting on your .com's and don't want to see potential in nTLD's or being scared they will take value away from .com's, or along similar line!

Well many have suggested there is potential in certain nTLD's, but not in .xyz, please!

Just think about it, some of them been there and lost money with previous TLD's coming out with similar hopes and not far off taglines, but I guess someone who is sitting up there is laughing while their pockets are being filled and doesn't care whether people can afford to throw their money away, starting with the guy who invented .xyz.. This is great for him, people like you guys run he's marketing campaign for free! :D

Best part is when someone showcase their crappy .xyz on forums very rarely I seen any of you even steping up to tell them dead straight and simple,

IT'S CRAP

Yes that's right I seen .xyz names so bad, that even current .com very unlikely sell for reg fee yet guy's still throw out comment like; ''yeah it's decant name, just hold on to it for few years''

Why not just waist some more money, right!
Is somebody here actually getting paid for defending .xyz, because at time's it sure look like that to me LOL

Thanks Kate for insight but ... No thanks.

If you can't understand why a new TLD needs to be set in place then you're just not following this thread either and yes the "basher" has pretty much admitted to hating on GTLD in General. "If you don't take risks you can't make it to the top !" I have the money to afford an investment such as this and If I lose ... Then shame on me ... But fool me twice ... Shame on you ! You're a professional domainer because you've been on this forum longer ? Is that a joke ... "I've been on this forum longer then you so I know what I am talkin about ..." -your scenario. I find it hilarious that you're all sitting with your .COM in your hands and that's what you think it will always be (TLD World) ... Live by this premise "It takes energy to destroy energy and energy to creat energy..." Laws of Thermal Dynamics ... If Daniel Negari put the $185,000 for Applicant fee for XYZ registrar don't you think he has a kin idea on his investment. XYZ domains are selling right now like Hot Cakes. Read your domain news. China is heavily interested in the concept and prices are shooting for all LLLL.XYZ which I believe sold out a little while ago... I have already showed the studies where Google Adsense was more in favor of a GTLD and the CPC rates are more friendly then that of a TLD. You could include all GTLDs for this favored aspect but the most popular GTLD is .XYZ... The numbers are online ! And you want to challenge me pull them up and post in this thread why you believe XYZ is dying out ?! It's not even close nor has it even really been born... When computers came to light and websites and domains were put for sale on multiple registrars and phone calls were made; do you remember the people who told those who were investing it's not a good idea... Lol. Well their multi millionaires now ! I should know better then anyone here, because my family was offered a chance to buy Sex.Com once upon a time for about $600,000 USD and we had the money. We thought it was the craziest thing because at the time it was not what it is worth today ... $14,000,000 USD last time I checked ... Principle and idea sound crazy but the moral is, "scared money doesn't make money..." if you're a professional then you know Mike Mann and do you think Mike Mann started off with a hundred million dollars ? No. He sold .Menu for $50,000 one day after he declined an offer for $25,000 because he was patient ! He just sold watches.co for a lot of money ... You'll have to look that one up and Neurstar just bought .Co extension of Colombia for $109,000,000 USD !!! (All because they saw the .Co as more of a Company or Corporation) ... You can't be scared when the moment presenta itself ! If you want to invest in COM then that's perfectly fine and I wouldn't judge you because I own domains with the extension COM as well but in today's world unless you have 3 LLL.com or 2 LL.com or NNN.com or NN.com or one keyword then you won't get anywhere without stepping into the GTLD world ... And lastly as I've said Verisign is suing Daniel Negari because they are scared for their COM ?! According to "you professionals" there is nothing to be scared of ?! Lol... I wouldn't sue someone for almost ten million dollars if I wasn't scared of my Empire boasting a competitor and that being XYZ ... Why is Google still doing business with Daniel after he refused to sell his whole company to them ? There Google and could imagine what they offered him ? Lol... And he refused ? What do you think $1,000,000,000 offer ? They made over $30,000,000,000 just from Pay Per Click last year !!! Their paying Daniel Negari $6,000,000/Yr for a domain that being ABC.XYZ ! If it's worth nothing then why would anyone put up money like that ? They could just buy the COM of Alphabet from BMW and you think BMW would resist a billion dollar check for a domain ? Lol...

Charts don't tell you how many of those .xyz been registered for $1, or whatever was the special prices run, on some registrars, just after Google new where announced!

You will be surprised how many of these 'Run up the numbers' games been run in domain industry over the years, maybe start the new tread here and ask people. Honestly you will be surprised ;)

How will numbers for .xyz fall back when each of name registered for $1 will cost 10 times that in year time?

Same happens with .com often, because some people managed to get cheap coupon .com, too much they can handle, maybe hoping for quick sale and let it go in year time.. That's been well documented and never been hidden by public, I am sure

Most XYZ names were free ! It's called strategic maneuvering and if you want to be seen blow all your domains you spent $185,000 on for as the applicant fee...

It sounds crazy but it worked ! Daniel Negari in a interview reported he made his money back in one months time from his brand new GTLD ICANN let him release to the public...

$8 resell value to GoDaddy & Donuts and they'll flip for whatever value they so desire ! Most GTLD names are set up this way and the same was true for COM when it was just starting ! No one would or could know the value that would be assigned to these premium domains which are in essence just Virtual Realestate !

Of course, Daniel Negari put the $185,000 in it, once he had exposure and mention of Google picking up abc.xyz, he's not the one who going to loose any money here..

About someone suing him? it's more publicity stunts, because the first one with Google picking up abc.xyz has long gone..

Truth is it's not hard to sell crap once people are made to believe it's gold!!!

If everybody talked about Chinesee picking up 10number.com for huge money in year time very convincingly, wouldn't you consider buying some?

Because everybody is using impressive number of already registered number of names, isn't that the whole argument for some to go for the .xyz in first place?

Think about it!

The argument is Virtual Realestate. If you owned a said company and you were offered the extension to the website would you not consider owning ? Controlling a monopoly especially with publicity is a key objective for big companies ! They want it all or none at all. So now let's say the extension doesn't just have publicity; it becomes popular because of argumentation and the idea is spread "which is better ? COM or GTLD" now the results unfold and GTLD doesn't become better then COM but it becomes a resemblance that some people prefer such as Pepsi to CocaCola and forth ! Now people buy and buy and buy ! Which is what is happening if you didn't know ... And voila you have a monopoly between COM and GTLD. Now people want a full monopoly so they buy the GTLD of their company and then rarity comes into effect. What did the COM sell for !? What's the Industry ?! What does EstiBot Think ?! All important evaluations and then kaboom ... You have equal pricing variations and those XYZ names were %0.5 value of the COM twin now equal out to be a %6 increase every year ... That's a couple hundred thousand dollars and that's just within 5 Years... "My Valuation"

Please read back what you wrote! He said him self Google didn't paid and won't pay him any money for abc.xyz, but for the reg fee! Gosh where you get all this info..

And if that's not publicity stunt how do you call that?

As for number many are fooled in to buying .xyz, because apparently so many been bought and people who now little about domains probably go on and spend full price not promotional price..

I already said some New Gtlds have some price because those after . are keywords!

.club .red .website and others

Everything before this like.com (commercial) .biz (buziness) . Info (information) .co (commercial shorter than .com), .org Organisation and mothers actually meant something

.xyz means absolutely nothing, does it?
