Saw a nice post on DNW about namebright and now the bright orange banners here on namepros. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with them?

thank you for the reply and the info. i dont use 2-factor authorization. btw-its was yesterday in the a.m. not p.m. when i was having the issues. you mentioned not seeing any login issues last night. i was finally able to login. could have been a local isp issue. all that being said-i love your platform. category settings is a fantastic tool. navigating to a domain name and changing any type of dns function takes less than 1 minute normally. you beat the competitors by far with your software. thanks for the service.

So far or good with NameBright for me. So far, I think I've got 53 domains with them and not one issue at all. Seems to be a great system, like the options to one-click "add to cart" on "other extensions"... the domain manager seems to work great and easy (much better to me than the latest GoDaddy domain manager system). GoDaddy has gotten heavier and heavier with it's logins, access to domains, etc that it takes longer and longer to do what I need to do there. I can tell already with the NameBright system, it's logically setup and just simply works.

Still pretty new with them - but definitely suggest giving them a shot. System works great, loads quick, easy navigation, quick and painless changes to any DNS... not to mention, GREAT pricing right now for .com's and .net's too.

And no... I don't work for them, lol. Just giving props when it's due. Great job with it guys and gals!

Thank you both for the great reviews! We love hearing this sort of feedback.

As you indicated, we have put tremendous effort into workflow to make managing domains way easier. We are also proud of the speed of the registrar as well and that you can get to business fast, instead of being bloated down with slow software.

Should you come across ideas on how we can improve, don't be fearful of the black link on the left of the site that says "feedback". If you are doing something over and over repetitively, let us know so we can make further improvements to our workflow to make NameBright even easier to use!

I've just read this thread through, the good, and and ugly, and decided to start moving some names from Godaddy over to Namebright as they come up for renewal. Godaddy's elimination of discounts and $15 renewal fees are the push I needed. I mean, GD made their name being inexpensive - and now they pull this?

Like everyone else here, I hate Andrew Reberry, too. The nerve of him to be so methodically successful and to constantly grab the names I want. He has more than a few of the names I've dropped - and if he can make money from them where I couldn't, more power to him.

The UI looks great. The offer to return dropped domains they hold for up to a year is unprecedented.

Does he benefit from having a registrar? Well....uh, I guess so. The only question I see being asked is whether he is front-running. I'll take his word for it that he isn't. This is business where many companies/people who have been exposed as frauds still operate as "industry leaders," so it's wise not to expect too much. So far, the only thing that Andrew seems guilty of is doing things too well.

I'm in the market for a new registrar, and we'll see how NameBright works out.

Edited: At least I will try them when they add the Paypal payment option. Surprised they don't have it yet.

Domainace: We accept Paypal. Right now it is only for funding accounts, and not in the checkout process. Go to: NameBright.com > My Account > My Settings > Billing > Add Funds

You will be able to add funds to your account with Paypal from there.

We are working on integrating Paypal into the checkout process but have not published the code we are still testing and working on.

Thank you for your initial review. I would love to hear what you think one or two months after using our system with real domains. If you have any issues or concerns PM me here.

Andrew

I do not know on RegistrarStats, we do not have an account with them. Perhaps it has to do with how we use NameBrightDNS.com for our primary nameserver - not NameBright.com... I'm not sure.

I have never understood why Webhosting.info does not have any stats on NameBright either. They think we have 891 domains, that is just wrong.

This number can be confirmed on DailyChanges.com though.

The domain namebrightdns.com was registered on June 15, 2009, and we have nameserver history going back to June 17, 2009. It is listed as a nameserver for 1,057,034 domains and is listed as the primary nameserver for 1,056,911 domains

I am having real problems with your check-out. The last two names I regged, I got a long hang when processing the order. Then I got a message that the order could not be processed. However, the names appeared in my account (hopefully they're mine) and I was charged. I received no email receipt in either case, so nothing to confirm the order.
Rather unsettling.

Domainace, this is something we are looking into. Thank you for pointing this out. We did not send an email in this case, but because of your order we think we know what went wrong and are working on a fix to this.

9:52pm pst-saturday-ive been trying for several hours to login and im getting this error:

Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error
Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated.

no updates at their blog site regarding problems.

ive moved quite a few names to them. the one thing that does worry me now is not having 24 hour support by phone. thats the one thing i like about certain registrars out there. i always feel better knowing i can talk to someone no matter what time of day it is regarding a problem.

All functions were restored early on Saturday. This downtime was only on the front end of our site, not on any DNS servers or email or anything that would make your domain names go down. We found the specific bug that unfortunately allowed this to happen. This issue is now fixed. As for weekend support, we are in the process of upgrading our support department, and we have started talking about emergency support on nights and weekends. Thank you for your patience on this.

Hi Rebies,

Have you guys considered to offer whois privacy for free ( not the first year)? If adding whois privacy, NB's price will be much expensive than namesilo and internetbs etc

Currently I've bought around 300 domains on NameBright.com. If there are no free whois, i think lots of us will consider transferring to other registrar.

Thanks

This is the main reason that I haven't transferred most of my portfolio to NB.

hippoking and stub... I appreciate the input. We are having discussions about privacy protection costs after year 1 and trying to find a way to bring the cost down for bigger portfolios. While I can not promise anything right now, it is at least being discussed on our end and we have 3 or 4 ways of possibly tackling this.

So you know... Whois privacy is one of our biggest costs. Every time a domain has privacy protection turned on, we have to field all calls that come to us, and amazingly it is a lot. While I don't have statistics on this, I feel like every domain that is privacy protected results in 1/2 a call a year to us. And that cost adds up on our end. People calling us for all reasons to discuss a domain that customers own. And then we have to explain they have to send an email to [email protected] to contact the owner. A lot of people want to call the owner, but we cannot provide that information to them. Each one of these calls takes us 5 to 10 minutes, and we get a surprisingly large amount of call volume because of private registrations.

Here is something for you to consider... You can always make your own whois privacy as well. Just buy one domain that is something like TheBestPrivacyProtection, use a local PO box (probably less than $100 a year) and you are setup to do your own privacy protection. You can even use a wildcard email address with us such as *@TheBestPrivacyProtection, and with NameBright we allow {domain} variables in our contact information - so with little effort you can replicate what we do with NameBrightPrivacy.com. To be honest, you don't really need your registrar to do it for you. The only downfall if you did something like this... If someone was really motivated they can probably do enough research and figure out most of the domains you own, given you are going to be the only person using that privacy protection service. But 99% of people will just assume it is just another privacy protection service and would never do the research. Food for thought anyway. (Edit: to clarify.. in the contact information you would set up the owner's email address as {domain}@TheBestPrivacyProtection.ext. Our system will change this to [email protected] in all whois output)

i wanted to pass on my most recent experience with namebright.com that i am dealing with right now as a warning to others to check your domain names in your account and make sure they are actually there. before i begin-i will say i have emailed mr. reberry regarding my situation and i have also sent 2 support tickets as well last night. i have not heard anything as of this writing. i logged into my account last night and went to one of my domain names to change the nameservers. i could not find the name in my account. i re-checked and verified that the name should be there since it was transferred to namebright.com this past may. the last update i had done on this domain was july 10. the name is gone from my account. i did a whois check and it shows the registrar is namebright.com and that the name is for sale. it resolves to a page stating that the site will be coming soon. i was able to look at the domain name history and it shows that the domain name was transferred to namebright.com on july 9th. i have no clue what in the world has happened to my domain name. perplexed, frustrated and slightly angry i emailed directly mr.reberry to ask him if he could look into this situation since the support ticket i had just submitted would not be attended to until most likely on monday since they do not have 24/7 support. shortly thereafter, i found another domain name that i had registered with namebright.com back in january of this year that is missing from my account. im not able to check the domain history on the domain name so im not able to track where it has gone. the whois does show my name and the registrar as namebright.com. the dns does not resolve. im concerned on many aspects of this situation. needless to say, i regret my decision to use this registar that does not offer 24/7 support. its sunday morning and here i sit wondering if my domain names have been hijacked, stolen or are in the process of being sold. thanks
