I recently read somewhere that because the Shanghai index is rising that the "faucet" of chinese numerics and pinying domain buyers will "dry up" because chinese domain investors would quit investing in domains and go back to their stock markets for more stable investments. This was the "prediction". Don't ask me where I read it. I forgot to save it for posterity. But it was a woman who wrote it I remember. A "supposed" expert. It was her 2016 prediction.

But low and behold, check out the news:

So what does this mean? Well to me it sounds like the DOOM AND GLOOM being predicted about the "Chinese Domain Boom" would dry up and people would be left "holding the bag" on their domains which they registered for the purpose of selling to a chinese market.
I'd like the experts on here to give their 2 cents. Let's discuss!
So looking at this news. Actually when has China ever shutdown their stock market? I'm sure they were afraid there would be a "run" on Chinese people taking their investments out of the Chinese Stock Market.

I would love to hear from the experts since I am not one.

Happy New Year Everyone. Good luck in your domaining in 2016!

I find liquid domains more volatile, less liquid with higher spread (transaction cost, commission etc) compared to stocks, but with a small chance of hitting jackpot with an end-user sale.

Everything is susceptible to manipulation... First rule of investing ;)

As a Registered Investment Advisor with 20 years of domain investment experience, I predict, in 2016, there will be record-setting investments in domain names from China, U.S., Australia and most countries in Europe. This investment will come from a wide variety of entities, from large international corporations to speculating individual investors, and millions of smart small-to-medium-size businesses in between.

WHAT TO WATCH IN 2016: Advertising and marketing companies from around the world will become large domain portfolio owners as they invest heavily in domains to fulfill their clients' current and future needs.

This is very promising comment.. Appreciate it, and I hope to see such thing in 2016. I believe too future of domain world is very bright. Domains are not just simple names to build website anymore.
Domains are now digital assets, one of the best investment instrument that you can have in your portfolio. They are like lands of the digital world same like lands in real world. They will gain much more value in future. Chinese are smart people, they know what they are doing. Stocks will fall but domains will rise.

wow! checked out modeldomains.com holy cow so many 5L.com's! may I ask? how does one maintain such a huge inventory and pay for the reg every year? I mean does domain parking really pay for the yearly reg so you can sit and wait for a buyer? What domain parking do you use?

Domains are much less of a gamble than the stock market.

They are realizing that.

beizg.com Bei = Beijing ZG = China (Beijing China)

Don't they do this already?

I'm guessing they do. But also I think advertising and marketing companies will want to secure keyword domains to "corner the market" on type in traffic of their potential customers which are large corporations. I'm only mentioning this because I have already secured some domains in this particular market but you are all welcome to try your luck too. So yea as everything becomes mobile. and people lazy seems that acronym have become increasingly popular in the tech world and in the advertising world. Case in point. here's some acronyms that every big business currently and in the future that is interested in cutting advertising costs will be searching for or at least their marketing department will be searching for.

SSP- Supply Side Platform
DSP - Display Side Platform
RTB - Real Time Bidding
DCO and DMP

So I registered
SSPDSP.COM
DSPSSP.COM
DSPDCO.COM
DCODSP.COM
DMPDCO.COM
DCODMP.COM

FYI:
RTBDSP.COM was dropcatched by Namebright they already plastered a buy it now price of $3674.25.

I figured as 4L's dotcoms and 5L's dotcoms are slowly drying up as the Chinese stock exchange plummets and investors are running to domain investing that 6L's dotcom values will start to rise especially if they contain no vowels like A,E,O,I,U and the letter V. I'm figuring they lost some money in the stock market right before it shutdown so I'm sure in their minds not only do they want stability but also somehow recoup their loses. And they believe that domains are the answer. It's only natural to panic like that.

At the very least the domains above will have a market in the advertising world for type in traffic strategy.
I know some of my domains have the letter O but I think it's going to be ok.

for more info check out this tutorial:

very interesting. Good luck!

We've had stock market pullbacks and a few crashes in the US and Europe since 2000 and domains have always made it through ok, and continued upward trend overall.

Personally, I view a recession coming in the near future, in China first, then it's the domino effect. The question is WHEN it will take place. The Chinese domain bubble might very well last an other year or more and 2016 might be an excellent year. After that, we will be back for real value (non speculative) domains: one word domains, short brandables or short multiple words that will remain scarce.

Anyone seeing pronounced softness/slowdown in ChiP xxxx.com or .net n the past few weeks? I'd figure the big impact on prices would be if flippers panic and start dumping their domains. I've recently started paying attention to domaining again after I started getting $1xxx offers for some "crap" LLLL.com I bought for reg fee in the year before the LLLL.com buyout.

It's all crazy bs. if you ask a chinese domainer they will say it's ALL OVER. but then you have western domainers pumping up everyone's hopes. it's all a crap shoot.

It might be over tomorrow, or in a few months, or in a few years, or never. But it is not over YET! I am after a certain type of still available chips and today Chinese took some while I was putting them in my cart.

I spoke to a chinese domain broker today about such "registrations" by chinese. He said there are novice and newbie domain investors even in China just like here. so just because they are being taken doesn't mean there is Value. but I would like to hear from anyone explain to me why something like THAT would not be a good indicator that Chips would still be valuable? he told me to check 4.cn for actually Sold prices or people bidding but even then there are tons of examples of people bidding on 5 letter domains but then again those domains and words were exact keyword matches of dictionary pinyin words. get me? So yea who should we listen to? a chinese broker? or western pump and dumpers?
