Nice to get a first serious offer (not the $250 dollar crap), however I think its worth more.

On a side note, I think Beer.TV is worth at least $35,000 and do not think that if the end user is a beer company that 60k is unreallistic.......

So am currently unsure if the offer for IT.TV is from an end user or re-seller and am looking for some help on a counter offer for IT.TV....Please keep it realistic!!!

Hi James,

That is a really nice starting offer,However,I personally wouldn't let this go for less than $100,000.

All country code .tv's are 10k per year, here you have a huge, popular European country code .tv and the reg fee is half that of the others available.

Fr.tv , Se.tv, , No.tv, Pl.tv are all 10k per year,even small rubbish country code names like Ht.tv ( Haiti) are 10k.

Add to this the infinite possible meanings of IT,includining the most obvious Information Technology + they are 2 great letters. means a $xxx, xxx sale is a reasonable amount to expect for such a fantastic name as this.

Just my thoughts.

Having said that, not sure now easy it would be to turn down an offer of say $75k, easier said than done i would think :hehe:

A gem in .TV namespace. I guess surely it will fetch high XXX,XXX (or) even a low X,XXX,XXX.

Good luck!

I'd be aiming for somewhere between the $50k to $100k mark for that one, excellent name!

Hi James, I totally agree with Bob.
It wouldn't surprise me if the offer would come from Italy and not the IT branch as Italy is quite TV minded, they have lots of (rich) TV stations, even the former president, Berlusconi, had one :hehe:

You still have time till October 2008 before renewing and that's a lot of time in .tv country.

If it.tv was mine, I would take my time and counter after a few days with $120,000 together with a friendly to the point text to verify your counter offer, that always helps imo. If the buyer does not back out, you have bait and can try settle for something around $100,000.

If the bidder backs out, he was not willing to spend more than say $50,000 or so and that's too low in my opinion as I personally rate it.tv higher than beer.tv, renewal date is still far away and the .tv train is now running and show no signs it will stop soon.

Nice bid anyway and we talk soon :)

Cheers mate, John.

Great James !!!

As john said you can counter offer with a price. I would not let go of this name for anything less than $100000. IT deserves IT.

.TV is just heating up so i really think this name is worth more in the future.

lol you lot seem to have different ideas to me about the value of this stuff. fair enough, if that's their opening gambit they're willing to pay more, but i'd snatch their hands off in principle.

how much would you have asked for hi.tv? i'm guessing about 10 times more than i sold it for (6k)

I am excited for you! IT.TV is a great name. No amount of money would really suprise me on this one. IT.TV was a large investment and it should garner a large return. At least 10 times what you paid. It is a real good LL.TV - hard to argue with that one, value is obvious. I think anywhere from $35k-$50k for this name. Of course you could try and hold on forever and get yourself near $XXX,XXX but I would not hold my breath too long.

Congrats!

PS its good to have you back to your normal self!

Sell it and put the money towards renewing your other names.

Offer has now hit 30k......

Truth is since I own this name with a partner, there is nothing immensely exciting about 15k.......

If it was just one of my names, I would take it immediately, but it is either my best name or second best name that I own......

Losing that baby from my stable for 15k (or 30k in total) would really be cutting out a huge oppurtunity for a big pay day in a couple of years....

Are my right in this thinking or am I just mad!!!

I apprecaite all the comments to date on the value of this name.....

If someone else owned it, what would you be willing to pay? Can that 30k be invested in a name or multiple names of higher quality?

I wouldnt be willing to pay anything. But that is because I have no use for the name.

If this bidder is an end user, then the question should be directed their way.

As for reinvesting and buying better names - no way is that possible......there is nothing of that quality that you could now buy for under 50k per year....IMO

IMHO seeing as you & your partner have plenty of time left before having to renew I would say hold on unless the name gets offers in excess of $XXX,XXX I would say around $115 - 132K which could be a very attainable sum in a year or 2. Remember our investments appreciate with time so if neither of you are in a bind for cash then hold on this is just the beginning if you ask me.
BTW Awesome name and congrats on a good investment which at the present moment fair market value is $30k.

Well, received a "full and final' offer of $32,500 late last night.......

Me & Tim did some soul searching and bank account checking, and whilst we could both do with the money (big time) we have taken into account peoples opinions on the board and feel that we only have to gain over the next 18 months on this name.

It would be nice to have won the title back of DN JOURNAL verified .TV sale of the year - (although as Eq has pointed out , i myself am very aware of much higher private sales) but we think this is a re-seller, not an end user...hence, its worth the wiat for at least another 18 months for an end-user for this name.......

I think 50k would have been the absolute minimum for us to consider selling...alas, this has not happened... not yet anyway!!! :)
