The word "and" in a domain name

Hi,

What is the general view on using the word 'and' in a domain name. Using a really basic example, hotelsandmotels or something similar. Now each word on its own would get millions/thousands of searches but would this help or hinder the name with a view to either developing the site or parking it?

Good question. I think it varies depending on keyword combos; in some cases the "and" is part and parcel to the term. For example, milkandcookies.com would be great. Chickenandwings.com, however, would be nonsensical, IMHO.

Best to run your specific term(s) through the Google Keyword tool to get an idea on search numbers.

Don´t use "and" in domain names.Such names are not worth much.

thanks for the answers guys. I do feel that if the term is used with the word 'and', then the domain would be better with 'and' in the domain. I would rather own fishandchips.com than fishchips.com. Sometimes I feel it is wrong to leave it out!!

To be honest the reason I asked was I was looking for a domain name for hybrid cars and electric vehicles (EV's). Obviously anything good is long gone, BUT, I wanted a site for both kinds of vehicle. If I had just a hybrid name, then it excludes pure EV's. If I had a EV name then it excludes Hybrids (to a point). Also I didn't want a 'green' or 'eco' car kind of name.

So I registered

evsandhybrids.com
evandhybrids.com
hybridsandev.com
hybridsandevs.com

I felt I had to register versions of EV and EVS as strictly speaking ev can mean the plural or singular but if people are talking about more than one EV they may say EV's. I know the names arn't great but they describe what I am after exactly! Also without the "and" (some versions are available) I think it looks crap!!
