Hey there....let say that I have a domain that has a "stop" word...supposedly a word that search engines ignore (like the) and my domain is "keyword"the.com
(a keyword followed by the word "the).
My question is ..is my domain classified as one keyword (since "the" is a "stop" word")?
How would search engines view the domain name?
Or does search engines only ignore "stop" words in search engine queries?
Thanks for reading this thread and any help that is given!

Good question. But if you search in Google for "outsiders", "the outsiders", "outsiders the" without the quotes and "outsiders the" with the quotes, you will see that each query returns different results. While I understand the idea of stop words when indexing text, it seems clear to me that the word "the" at least is index and give some value that affects the results.

If you are concerned about the search value of keywords in the domain, "keywordthe" would be a bad choice to me. The reason is that I don't think you will get a match on "keyword" only "keywordthe". From what I have seen search engines do NOT try to figure out all possible words in a domain, but WILL do an exact match when the spaces are removed.

If they keywords in the domain are important, then I would separate them with a hyphen so each keyword can be seen and considered.

Thanks for responding nielsencl..

basically I was hoping that search engines would only read "keyword" and ignore "the"

The main reason that I asked is that I just bought stockthe.com from another member and I was thinking maybe I stumble onto a new way to get good "keywords" domains example mortgagesthe (dot) com etc. And I understand about "stop words" in search engine queries and page indexing, and wasn't sure about "domain" names!
