These Videos made me go back to when I lived in California in the mid-seventies. Because of my unusual English accent people would ask where I was from. I would say Madeira Island. Nobody had a clue where it was, except for one lady who said she had taken a drive there over the weekend.

I scratched my head trying to figure out how she had driven across the whole of the USA, then driven across most of the Atlantic Ocean and visited my Island.

After some questioning, it turns out she had driven to the small city of Madera in Central California.

The next day I went to a bookshop and bought myself a big map of CA to find out where it was.

The following weekend I drove there to satisfy my curiosity and confirm that, indeed, it was possible to drive to Madera (without the i ) in just a few hours and spend a little time relaxing beneath the shade of a big willow tree next to a lovely river...

After that I decided I would say that I was from Portugal, thinking that it would be better for people to know where it was. It was only a wee bit better with some thinking it was in Central or S. America. One thought it was a province in Denmark. But at least a small % got it right... so that made me happy.

Jaywalking really was an eyeopener for me years ago. People not evening knowing who the current VP was, really simple stuff.

I had never heard of Madeira ever before and had to look it up awhile back where u were exactly, I thought it was closer to the south iberian coast. its less known and even like Galapagos, or Seychelles, people hear or see the name but need to guess. Geography wasnโ€™t like a huge repeated theme when I was in school. Public schools I went to were more interested in propaganda as I recall. Always recall all the anti communist stuff, and civil rights drivel, vietnam war, nuke drills once a month to hide under the desk (stupid) all those subjects seemed to go on the news and classroom every year. My last formal real english class was in 8th grade, really was lame they didnโ€™t force it every year. I learned much more on my own after graduating.

I remember when living in CA that all the news was either about the US or very anti-comunism,. It was like a paranoia against the USSR, much like what Liberals are doing right now in relation to Russia.

At the time while living there, I got the sensation that in the US there were 2 planets; Planet USA and Planet "Rest of the World", but I could see it wasn't the people's fault. It was what was being pushed into their minds... by the MSM, and the Government, thanks to the Cold war with the USSR.

Exactly correct. Not just CA. Most of the US is pretty myopic and itโ€™s by design really. All the education of the Cortez Veracruz conquest for example came in college. I recall all these whiney teachers preaching dumb propaganda constantly. I Happened to have a few great instructors. They were very few, most I look back and my public education was really lacking. Inner city education, probably typical.

Wow, it makes my blood boil just listening to the totally brainwashed young Swedes at the end. They look like feminist scum that would rather die than admit that all the rape and violence happening in Sweden is thanks to all those illegal Muslims that their stupid leftist Government so openly welcomed.

They are in complete denial. Sweden reminds me of the "Boiling Frog Experiment"

If a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if the frog is put in tepid water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death.

Bye, Bye Sweden, you really have become victims of your own Politically Correct stupidity.

Class act alright. Let me guess, some free $800 iPhone Apple coordinated deal from Tim Cook. Lol. Sickening.

So much bs posted today, will just touch on this one. You don't have to guess, you can simply look. It actually started under Bush:

"The president has no direct impact on the program, and one could hardly call these devices "Obama Phones," as the e-mail author does. This specific program, SafeLink, started under President George Bush, with grants from an independent company created under President Bill Clinton, which was a legacy of an act passed under President Franklin Roosevelt, which was influenced by an agreement reached between telecommunications companies and the administration of President Woodrow Wilson."

Q: Has the Obama administration started a program to use "taxpayer money" to give free cell phones to welfare recipients?

A: No. Low-income households have been eligible for discounted telephone service for more than a decade. But the program is funded by telecom companies, not by taxes, and the president has nothing to do with it.

How many times have you heard people on the right talking about Obama phone? Now, you know the truth.

Looks like California did something right and deported Gilsan back to Portugal. Trump said we want immigrants that bring value to this country.

Good one. That video was the first one I had seen before. At least in the current EU Schengen rules, there are options to move. If you are smart and Swedish, and can leave youโ€™d probably move far south anyway. Merkel and the rest are putting in the wood into the fire to boil the pot of water there. I donโ€™t read enough about the UK to comment, maybe the smart ones already left London to retire and live on the Iberian shores. I have a couple EU friends retired in the Caribbean that left the EU behind.

Just was reading an article about CA, itโ€™s doomed politically for any balance it seems.

I donโ€™t know the program, however Corp America or Telecoms donโ€™t give away stuff or millions in freebies, There are no donations, there is some buried govt subsidy, kickback, tax writeoff or angle. Or most likely Funded by increasing the real paying customers bills. Just like Hospitals, those with ability to pay, have higher bills to subsidize those who donโ€™t. Its always wealth transfer.

So i read it. So my educated guess was correct. Here is what it says:

โ€œThe companies often charge customers to fund their contributions in the form of a universal service fee you might see on your monthly phone bill. The fund is then parceled out to companies, such as Amรฉrica Mรณvil, that create programs, such as SafeLink, โ€

Consumers always pay.

Ok quickdraw! I edited my post to add the subsidy part. These programs are never some charity.

JB, are you a patriot act supporter? It was the other side that created it. That was the fear mongering Bush capitilized on. I donโ€™t like his family cartel either.

I recall hearing this and dug it up. Carlin and Jillete comments.

From CNN:
JILLETTE: I have been a huge fan of George Carlin`s since I was a kid. I`ve known him and he`s been very important in my life for a long time. He`s a hero of mine, but we could not disagree more. It`s amazing how, right after 9/11, he wrote in his notebook, and I typed in my journal, because he`s a little bit of a Luddite, "There go our civil liberties." Within an hour of the towers going down, that`s what both of us were thinking.

And yet I see it as constant vigilance, and we have to fight for our civil liberties, and things will still go because people are really good, and he sees it as Doomsday. And it`s really funny how many things George and I can agree on, and yet I`m this ridiculous Pollyanna where I think everything`s going to get better.
