Waiting on Trump's appointment for "Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary".

Need a ball buster with a history of honorable service, executive experience and an ability to rally media and congress. Personally think the job is too big for one person.

The VA has to do an assement are they going to be all things to all people(veterans) or do what they were originally chartered to do,Take care of veterans who received service connected injuries. Right now they are trying to provide healthcare to 20 or 30 million vets, when they aren't staffed or financed for this. Basically any vet who makes less than a certain threshold gets healthcare, some for a small price. Personnaly I am for giving a medical card or voucher for care for service connected injuries. as well as free health care for the disabled vets in addition to there disability pay. It is not the job of private charities to support them, it is the US Government who sent them in harms way in the first place.

We should not be fighting in Syria.
Agreed, but my point was about Russia's support of Assad. Often when another country commits a serious atrocity (like killing their own civilian women and children) others will speak out. It's an awful situation in that country - civilians in Aleppo were leaving last messages on social media last night. Heartbreaking. You'd think that would at least merit a 140 character tweet.

Obama backed the rebels, but not enough for them to succeed. Instead of making decisions, he procrastinated, ditheredd, and took a wussy middle road that didn't do anyone any good. You'd think if you were differentiating yourself from him, you'd at least say something like how awful it is that Obama mismanaged things and now innocent people are dying because if him.. Some acknowledgement of the situation there would be expected ...

I don't know - maybe that was in one of the security briefings he missed.

But instead, he's whining about MSNBC, after they broadcast that interview with him where he said some things that left him open to criticism. Snowflake.

I think DT is focused on transition of power and domestic policy. I don't think anything he does will help in Syria.

Pres. Obama with the full support of John McCain helped fund the Islamist that became ISIS, in the effort to defeat Assad. I don't think it could have gone any worse for the people of Syria.

I hope Syrians will find refuge in Turkey and Iraq. We could take more refugees. Documenting identities and residence won't be easy.

If the Obama administration didn't have a reputation for lying, they might get more cooperation from Congress.

The Cluster Fuck that is US Policy in the Middle East, i.e. Syria.

A clearly frustrated Western diplomat sheepishly admitted that both the U.S. and Europe had focused too much on pressuring Moscow and too little on squeezing Iran to stop the violence in Syria. The diplomat attributed that hesitation to American concern over disrupting the nuclear deal with Iran, and European concern about squandering investment opportunities resulting from that agreement. Iran sanctions are โ€œmore third-railโ€ than Syria sanctions because of the commercial interests, this diplomat said.

I'm happy adults with experience, not academics, will be making decisions for the next four years.

Prediction. Jan 1st, Iran stops harassing our Navy. By March, every US citizen Iran has kidnapped will be returned without payment.

Oh FFS. You're quibbling over the word "small?" The key points were "corrupt" and "authoritarian".
Enjoy your groupthink thread.

Well, yes - since the word is central to your point. You said "Smaller government only means less corruption if it's members aren't corrupt." Whereas I think smaller government is the answer to many of our problems. So the meaning of "small" is not a quibble. It's the main point.

Since most people I know follow the mainstream media version of events, it's rare that I am in a discussion with people who I mostly agree with on these issues. Which keeps me questioning my position, and saves me from the groupthink I see everywhere.

The CIA, Aleppo, the Russian "hacking" of the election - all played up to lead the public by the nose. Even some of my more liberal friends have been able to see through this BS lately. Sad that so many Americans in America seem to buy it, though.

Just like when Reagan became President. On his first day in office, Iran released all those American hostages. Reagan and Trump may be different in so many ways, but when it comes to being tough they are so similar. He won't take that kind of BS that Pussycat Obama took. Even Duterte wouldn't dare call Trump a "Son of a Whore"

Oh yeah, that's great.

"โ€œHe wishes me well, too, in my campaign, and he said that, well, we are doing it as a sovereign nation, the right way,โ€ Mr. Duterte said."

"Mr. Duterte has led a campaign against drug abuse in which he has encouraged the police and others to kill people they suspect of using or selling drugs."

So maybe we should adopt that here in the United States?

Carnival Forces U.S. Workers to Train Foreign Replacements Before Christmas
Americans working at Carnival Corporation say the companyโ€™s Christmas gift to hundreds of its college-graduate employees was the news that they are being fired and must train their low-wage foreign replacements.

Obama... where are you? Aren't you gonna do something about these jobs or are you gonna let Trump take care of it?

I think Trump will push harder and compromise less with Iran, China, Russia. I could be wrong.

I'm not advocating we shoot at Iran before they aim their guns at our Navy.

I have no idea what you and Gilsan are saying. :xf.laugh:

Talk about Ivanka Trump acting as First Lady..

I'm not going to be happy with Trump's democrat family running the Gov, especially while they run Trump Inc.

DT's kids are not elected and he's playing with Fire. Fast road to impeachment.

Don't believe the media about the situation in Aleppo. The truth is that the people of Aleppo are celebrating their liberation from the jihadist head choppers. The reamining jihadists don't give a chance for he civilians in Eastern Aleppo to evacuate and they are using them as a shield. All these heartbreaking reports from within aleppo are manipulation, propaganda from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and believe it or not USA.

What a shame. What a shame for the western media. I just don't believe what they are doing. I have a friend from Syria (he is Christian). His family is there and the truth is so much different.

It's so nice to look back a little over a month ago and see the faces and comments of the brainwashed Liberal reporters and so called political experts and commentators, feeling terrorized and in disbelief after Trump's win.... simply PRICELESS
