Man, something is M(ing)AGA.

If I had bought a new Sigma lens yesterday, I'd pay $782 (115 Yen). Today, with the 2.x+ increase? $767.

Maybe I ought to wait until America's dollars are so strong and buy these bigger ticket items at essentially 1/2 off. It shouldn't be too long past January 20th that that happens... ;)

The VA has to do an assement are they going to be all things to all people(veterans) or do what they were originally chartered to do,Take care of veterans who received service connected injuries. Right now they are trying to provide healthcare to 20 or 30 million vets, when they aren't staffed or financed for this. Basically any vet who makes less than a certain threshold gets healthcare, some for a small price. Personnaly I am for giving a medical card or voucher for care for service connected injuries. as well as free health care for the disabled vets in addition to there disability pay. It is not the job of private charities to support them, it is the US Government who sent them in harms way in the first place.

Thanks for your service.

Took me a 10 year battle with the VA for full entitlements.

Edit: read that wrong. But, thanks for your support.

One Syrian's perspective:

https://medium.com/opacity/the-syri...-look-at-the-conflict-f841404c3b1d#.dvfji169c

And this from Robert Fisk in the Middle East. He was a hero to the left when he was stridenly exposing Bush. SInce then, he has been conveniently ignored.

http://www.independent.co.uk/voices...more-than-one-story-robert-fisk-a7471576.html
OK... time to simplify things about the conflict in Syria...
President Assad (who is bad) is a nasty guy who got so nasty his people rebelled and the rebels (who are good) started winning.

But then some of the rebels turned a bit nasty and are now called Islamic State (who are definitely bad) and some continued to support democracy (who are still good).

So the Americans (who are good) started bombing Islamic State (who are bad) and giving arms to the Syrian Rebels (who are good) so they could fight Assad (who is still bad) which was good.

By the way, there is a breakaway state in the north run by the Kurds who want to fight IS (which is a good thing) but the Turkish authorities think they are bad, so we have to say they are bad whilst secretly thinking they're good and giving them guns to fight IS (which is good) but that is another matter.

Getting back to Syria. President Putin (bad, as he invaded Crimea and the Ukraine and killed lots of folks including that nice Russian man in London with polonium) has decided to back Assad (who is still bad) by attacking IS (who are also bad) which is sort of a good thing?

But Putin (still bad) thinks the Syrian Rebels (who are good) are also bad, and so he bombs them too, much to the annoyance of the Americans (who are good) who are busy backing and arming the rebels (who are also good).

Now Iran (who used to be bad, but now they have agreed not to build any nuclear weapons and bomb Israel are now good) are going to provide ground troops to support Assad (still bad) as are the Russians (bad) who now have ground troops and aircraft in Syria.

So, a Coalition of Assad (still bad) Putin (extra bad) and the Iranians (good, but in a bad sort of way) are going to attack IS (who are bad) which is a good thing, but also the Syrian Rebels (who are good) which is bad.

Now the British (obviously good, except Corbyn who is probably bad) and the Americans (also good) cannot attack Assad (still bad) for fear of upsetting Putin (bad) and Iran (good / bad) and now they have to accept that Assad might not be that bad after all compared to IS (who are super bad).

So Assad (bad) is now probably good, being better than IS (no real choice there) and since Putin and Iran are also fighting IS that may now make them good. America (still good) will find it hard to arm a group of rebels being attacked by the Russians for fear of upsetting Mr Putin (now good) and that mad ayatollah in Iran (also good) and so they may be forced to say that the Rebels are now bad, or at the very least abandon them to their fate. This will lead most of them to flee to Turkey and on to Europe or join IS (still the only constantly bad group).

To Sunni Muslims, an attack by Shia Muslims (Assad and Iran) backed by Russians will be seen as something of a Holy War, and the ranks of IS will now be seen by the Sunnis as the only Jihadis fighting in the Holy War and hence many Muslims will now see IS as good (doh!).

Sunni Muslims will also see the lack of action by Britain and America in support of their Sunni rebel brothers as something of a betrayal (might have a point) and hence we will be seen as bad.

So now we have America (now bad) and Britain (also bad) providing limited support to Sunni Rebels (bad) many of whom are looking to IS (good / bad) for support against Assad (now good) who, along with Iran (also good) and Putin (also, now, unbelievably, good ) are attempting to retake the country Assad used to run before all this started?

This should clear it all up for you. Almost.

One of the things I hope Donald Trump does is pull our troops out of Germany, Japan, Philipines and South Korea. They don't want us there anyway so we could kill 2 birds with one stone. Also that we change policy form being the world,s Policeman and concentrate on humanitarian causes. No nation building etc.I would still maintain alliances with our friends IE if you attack one you attack all

He's already hinted at some of these countries defending themselves. I think as a businessman he wants to cut down costs. I believe he will be much more efficient than Obama at dealing with foreign leaders, even the Russians, which the Democrats seem to fear so much.

Japan is a sitting duck without America's defense (and offensive) force here. China could easily overrun Japan quicker than America did in the first Gulf War.

They will pay. And, hopefully in the form of debt forgiveness as they're the largest US debt holder. That's $1.224T, or approximately 6%, of our national debt... poof.

If not, they're dumber than I thought and I'll most likely be relocating to Guam if so.

Just wouldn't be safe here anymore with the S. China Sea conflicts...

You are underestimating Japan's defence capabilities, and overestimating China's desire/willingness to invade. I might be worried if I lived on, say, Ishigaki Island. But unless China's leadership takes a dramatic turn for the worse, there will be no invasion of mainland Japan. That would be insanity, and wouldn't even be supported by most of the Chinese who hate Japan.

The US, on the other hand, wants bases here. It's not all about helping out Japan. And even if the worst case scenario comes to be, Guam would high on the target list and not a terribly safe place to hold out.

Ishigaki Island
Not too far away. Ishigaki is a part of the Okinawa prefecture, where I'm located, and is of great interest to China.
I did not know we overran Japan in the gulf war....
Bad sentence.

What I meant was, China could overrun Japan quicker than the coalition forces lost the Gulf war. In other words, China could take Japan in days, as opposed to weeks.
