Americans have lost their freedoms anyway, because they don't believe in them anymore.

++ Everything you said except this.

I have to agree with Kate on this point. Nobody dies for a flag. They may die for what a flag represents. But making the symbol more important than what it symbolizes is just backwards, and shows a lack of respect for freedom of speech. It's the flip side of the extreme political correctness disease.
If burning a flag has to do with freedom of speech then why did they ban the Confederate Flag?

You can burn both flags, you can display both flags. One flag because of it's history has been banned from certain places but you can still ride around with it and wear it. They say state rights but leave out a big state right was the right to own slaves, so you could see how that might be offensive.

The Confederate flag has not been banned. It was removed from Gov. buildings.

Removed from flag polls on public owned property. Not banned.

If don't know who Marcus Lemonis is or haven't watched The Profit, you should checkout his show. It's A+ free enterprise.

Lemonis recently stayed a week in Cuba. I watched it with my oldest Grand Daughter to show her what socialism / communism is.

In Cuba, they'd beat Colin Kaepernick for not standing during the anthem. Which would make me kind of happy..

I guess some children didn't have to recite this every morning...
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

I was much more angry when Pres. Barrack Obama's campaign tossed hundreds of American flags in the trash. That was careless disrespect and criminal.

And when the DNC thought it would be a good idea to sell flags with Pres. Obama's picture on them..

I took that pledge every day. I also remember there were a few people who refused for religious reasons.

I'm grateful they didn't have to violate their beliefs. That is what makes us free. That's why I choke up when I sing the national anthem. That and the salsa.

I had to post the pledge as it shows both the flag, and what it stands for, are respected... not just what it stands for as what was being argued.

I agree with you to a point. It angers me but being free means tolerating a-holes.

As a part of a political protest, yes. To keep warm, no.
So... let me get this straight.... It's OK to burn an American flag on public owned property during a protest, but the Confederate Flag was banned from Public places?

A pledge is meaningless unless offered freely.

I used to tolerate a-holes... but that was a long time ago

You're confusing public and Gov. You can burn either one. You can fly your confederate flag in public places.
