Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

you can put a web page in as well as phone numbers... (protect privacy if you want...) deleting it later might not work, but you can let us know....

ok..will do!

Big Development.... Maybe,.....

I've just discovered something very big for achieving great search engine visibility and GEO placement for specific NAPTR records..... All in less than 48 hours!

This could be very.... very... big for monetizing .tel!!

I'll inform the crowd once I'm done tracking, testing 'click-thru-rates'.
Please, tell us about it as soon as you can !

I just find out when transferring (push) .Tel to other account in same registrar, there is only one Tel hosting for all domains and all domain under it. I hope Telnic will soon short this issue and give each account separate Tel hosting panel.
Anyone with me here…

I posed this very question to H. Asseily at telnic and he has assured me that when the 60 day hold is lifted that registrars will issue each domain it's own telhosting account when transferred over, so all is good. Hope this puts your mind to rest as it did mine. B-)

I got quick reply from Telnic:
"You need to contact your service provider and request that they create a new user and move your investment domains to that user. This way, your domain names will be in different accounts."

The old registering domain names is like going to the moon analogy. I figured someone would pull that out eventually.

Yea .... As in ....

"Bang ... zoom .... to the moon Alice!"
-honeymooners-

A sometimes frustrating venture.

Thanks, I was wondering how transfer would be accomplished.

I just love how the geolocation web lookup sits there trapped in a lackadaisical affair whilst the DNS queries whiz past at light speed.

My parietal lobe is still cooling down.

excellent but the video is luring us because when you watch on a iphone it doesnt display like this but simple text. At the begining (landrush) navigation was graphic like you see on video but now it's just plain text. I really want that they come back to graphic menu style.

Tracking .Tel Records

Tip#1
You can track individual NAPTR records (including subdomains) by tracking links only.

This can be done be using a simple link management resource such as budurl.com which creates "tiny trackable keyword urls" which you place on your .tel site.

Check it out in action:

http://www.HotelSuites.tel - tiny url is located on 'Featured Sponsor' section.

Let me know your thoughts,

The video demos Henri's brand new iPhone application, called Superbook - it pulls records straight out of the DNS (hence the break neck speed). Totally separate from the web proxy page.

I am posting this here because I wanted people familiar with .tel to provide opinions.
Mods, if it is in the wrong section, move it to the correct one.

I recently decided to "jump" and regged some .tel names. I'd like opinions as to whether or not they are good names. Not their value. The names are:

angry.tel
bodyparts.tel
carafe.tel
carcinoma.tel
cecily.tel
chemo.tel
gesina.tel
gratitude.tel
malware.tel
menorah.tel
milkchocolate.tel
mythology.tel
newjerseyrealestate.tel
poverty.tel
poughkeepsie.tel
ptsd.tel
sobriety.tel
strut.tel
sunnah.tel
thermos.tel
usual.tel
whiteplains.tel

Opinions are appreciated, as I am not always great at choosing names.

Thanks,

Chuck

Great. Now tell us what will you do with these domains that you cannot develop, park or otherwise monetize.

The "planning to make an index and sell links" statement is passe.

Hi Chuck,
With the .TEL extension you're pretty limited as far as what direction to take a dictionary term, as opposed to a geographic location or a person's name.

I'm confused as to what you'd use mythology, carafe, and thermos.tel for. They seem pretty unfit for this extension IMHO.

Has anyone here seen Office Space? Reading through this thread some of these ideas are like the "Jump to Conclusions Mat"....If you have seen the movie you will understand.

Before .tel launched, and before I read the FAQ - I relied on the beautiful videos on the Telnic web site showing what a piece of work the .tel TLD would be. Luckily, I read between the lines and was able to confirm with other domain investors and developers, what a piece of propaganda this has been all along. The first TLD to go live while still in obvious beta mode, hid well the fact that you're stuck with the built-in DNS and you cannot use .tel domains like any other TLD. Once/if the Telnic/MySpace deal goes through, I wonder how many ignorant MySpace users will fall prey to the promises of the Ben.tel video and will face a shock when they won't be able to use their $19.95 /year .tel domains for any images, audio, video, etc. How many hundreds of thousands of refunds will be in place?

I lived the corporate .com bubble & bubble bust era exactly the way Office Space portrays it. The movie is one of the most brilliant samples of cinema work!
