Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

I have over 700 .tel domains such as BradPitt.tel, AngelinaJolie.tel, WillSmith.tel, HarryPotter.tel, Batman.tel, TomCruise.tel and iMac.tel etc.

Check out my full list please:

Thank you and have a nice day.

You may want to rethink this strategy.
This is not a wise move.

These would be decent domains in .COM, but in .TEL they are horrible registrations at this point in time. You should seriously consider contacting registrar to inquire about a refund on both. IMO.

My idea (and I hope it works) is to use these as a good seo tool for a couple of my other sites. I'll get other sites to exchange links to my .tel sites, helping me get listed pretty high, and make sure to have the link to my other sites on top. that way I can get more traffic and Page Rank from have links to high relevant websites. :gl:

Sorry. Get a refund and save yourself $20.00. IMHO.

What do you guys think about creating a one-stop .Tel brand that could work for every market much like YellowBook.

Thanks.

This will clearly happen sooner or later, and that is when people will have no choice but to admit that .tel is a bless, for both businesses and customers . If Telnic will not do it, I am sure that several people and companies will start working on directories similar to the Yellow Book, except that the .tel version will be a faster, more advanced, comprehensive, complex and useful version(s) of the Yellow Pages.

It is not yet clear to me if Telnic wants to just provide a platform for other people and companies to compete and develop .tel in whichever way they see fit for their needs- YellowBooks or anything else- or if Telnic will want to develop a directory superhighway themselves to organize other smaller directories based on quality, speed of info delivery and other criteria.

The Telodex was a nice idea- maybe one might just want to start displaying the main geos and the most useful or commonly used generics and their main subfolders in a huge, more organized tree-like .tel structure (maybe telodex.tel will develop into something like that- for similar purposes I got telpower.tel initially, since power.tel was taken by IBM if I am not mistaken)- the idea being then to try linking these geos and generics to the most useful or advanced links on that particular subject/ subsubject- other .tels or .coms or whatever happens to be most useful on the net. Basically from personal experience I know that a person organizing a certain subject or geo under a .tel can do a more relevant and better job than Google and Yahoo in organizing the info and links available out there on any subject if your sole purpose is to make your particular .tel a very useful and efficient tool - you can try that for yourself on any particular subject that you are really familiar with- generic or geo if you don't believe me. To think that one person can do a better job than Google or even the Yellow Book in general is idiotic, but to think that one or more people interested in a subject can get together with other people specializing in other subjects & come up with better info than Google and Yahoo and the Yellow Pages together might one day become reality..... and maybe .tel is one such chance if the right people use it properly....

The main problem is that often there will be financial conflict between really valuable content and sponsored content- which is why maybe serios people developing .tels should clearly disclose their sponsors, in the same way people do in the academic world if the lecturer has any potential financial conflicts of interest. That would not be necessary for paid directories like the Yellow Pages, but might be of some value for other sites meant to provide reliable and useful information....

I understand that it is very hard to stay objective, but regardless of what we think right now there will be a process of selection and evolution, and in the end we will be left with either the best version(s) of these directories based on speed, value, etc, or history will repeat itself with unjustified bs, hype and anti-social monetary incentives dominating the picture to the detriment of everybody else..... Sorry about the long (and utopic) message once again- maybe I am just dreaming here, but somehow I feel that I am stating the obvious and that a lot of you out there might be thinking the same, more or less....

My humble opinion is that .com is great, but a .tel + .com is better. In other words don't try to compare .com with .tel regarding their intrinsic usefulness and value (I do understand the interest in comparing their monetary value)- it's a little like trying to compare apples with tomatoes, or comparing the usefulness of a search engine with that of a .com- you are basically better off to have both...... In terms of how much a .tel should be sold for compared to a similar .com, it will be based on individual needs and quality of each domain, but it is certain that you will see some surprises at times...

Got Rhia.tel, my granddaughter's first name. A year or so ago, I got Rhia.mobi.

That kid will be set; she's only four and has two toy cell phones.

She may have to wait until she's 18 before I turn those domains over to her.

Question. This may have been asked and answered in a previous post. If so, my apologies.

I am trying to place html text links on a .Tel page. Is it possible to, I guess you may call it, mask the url as a text word or sentence much like in an html composed e-mail with hyperlinks.

Thanks.

No joke, this is part of the iPhone deal: Apple will use Android code starting Wednesday! MySpace buys Telnic in a stock and cash deal.

Any links for that story you've got 'Acroplex? Appreciate it... :)

Listings.tel
Pages.tel
Carpenter.tel
NorthAmerica.tel
Manila.tel

NorthAmerica obviously has huge potential and it could take years to finish, unless you decide to target a specific niche, like Travel, Business, Medical etc
even then, its a lot of work, but great name, the shorter "USA" would have been better IMO

Pages and Listings could be nice directories for just about anything, a YellowBook.com type directory, both nice names though

On this restrictive platform, not only is that impossible, it's nothing more than a pipe dream with zero chance of success. .TEL is intended as a single contact point for individuals or business, not directories. Sorry, but let's get real here. IMO.

I completely agree with you here. its almost as if Telnic was vague and ambiguous on purpose seeming as if these things were possible to increase sales and lure more gullible believers. must say - i have bought 1 .tel so im not a true naysayer :p

Sad stuff (pretty much the entire thread), god knows what people are thinking with these names.

Yep, I totally agree. Many of the people are living in a dream world.

There is already a directory. It is called a phonebook, you can either open that or go to YP.com and type what you are looking for and where.

It is 2009. I think we are past the point of this being useful other than for a few situations.

This is like being excited over Pong being released, when there is already a PS3. This idea is long past its prime.

This is perhaps the most fantastic (as in fantasy) quote I've read here on #1 Namepros™. IMHO.
