Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Got two for the $17 price:

Rents.tel
&
OHS.tel

Rents was decent I think, and OHS is a widely used acronym...

Hopefully my dot tel "central', which is showing "problem" on dynadot is fixed by morning. I called them and they said the engineer would look into it tonight and fix it. The whois just shows dynadot general.

Really want this one!

May be a stupid question, but does "problem" at Dynadot actually mean you gpt the domain, and they're just having issues setting it up? Because that would make me very, very happy if so!

I have a few at DynaDot also with the "problem" status.
My bank though says that the payment went through and so there should be no problem as far as payment is concerned.
It has to be on DynaDot's side and probably related to the domains with the whois in the DynaDot name.
There are several that I went for that have this whois status.

According to them that sounds like the case. I did a whois on my domains with the "problem" and they to seem to be registered to Dynadot.

There are a couple hundred TEL domains that we are still adding to the system. These were domains that were registered in preorder, or possibly in the first hour of launch.

There was a problem with some of the registry connections during launch, so the orders ended up in problem status. However the domains were registered by us, and we are now manually adding them to the correct accounts.

Just add folders and the "Go to" shows up. I put some of my sites in a folder as an example. Pretty neat way to "group" your stuff.

L2 - www.Lumpy.tel

Thanks L2 :)
Looks like I still have some work to do for penticton.tel
(You should have seen it before hehe)

I just called DynaDot and they said their Engineer should fix the problem today. Hopefully those with names showing up as a "problem" status are the ones that are actually going to get the name not everyone who had a preorder on the domain. I imagine there will be a lot of angry phone calls to DynaDot if that is the case.

The operator at DynaDot was decent but it seems like he must have had a number of complaints on this issue all ready. He was not quite as friendly as you would expect a customer service rep to be.

I see some GREAT ones here (some that I had on my list and missed out)... and also some crapola as well.
Sort of like my own TELs list... :D
Ahh, each to their own, right?
BTW, I got 68 in Landrush and picked up about 140 or so yesterday through the Pre-Order and Hand Regs. :bingo:
I did manage to grab some good ones in my favorite niches (see siggy for hint). :kickass:
They will be used to simply direct traffic. Kind of like buying an ad. ;)
The strategy is sell off about half or so and keep my favorites for free.
I probably won't post my keepers.
After I get a bit organized with the final list, I'll put some up here for views, comments and/or laughter. :D
Carpe Diem!

Edit: I was on domainmonster last night and this morning (green checkmark and whois), editing my staff.tel, and BAM it was gone!

I called them up and they said there was a last minute $325 sunrise app for the name. CRAZY

You mean, you regged staff.tel, and it showed your details in the Whois - but, then, it was taken off you??

I have one .tel that I've regged - was available, I got confirmation, payment confirmed, Whois shows my details, its listed in my main domain account at Moniker - BUT - the domain doesn't show up in the list of domains in my TelHosting account at Moniker (other .tel domains I regged DO show).....Just one missing.

I called Moniker, and they couldn't tell me why it wasn't in my TelHosting list.....Told me to write a Support Ticket (waiting for reply).

Do I have the domain, or not, does anyone think?...Should I be concerned?

I have only one name with a problem with Dynadot, and this is a name I pre-registered twice by mistake (in two different orders).

I suspect indeed all names showing "problem" have been pre-registered several times (by one or several people).

seeing that you can link to multiple websites from your .tel, real estate seems a natural use.

example:

its common nowadays for each property to have a website of its own...from ChicagoCondos.tel I can link to each propertys' site and people can browse what I have for sale.

even cooler if their sitting in front of a property in their car and on their cool iphone :)

then if their interested they hit the call link and call me to talk.

disclaimer...regged today: ChicagoCondos.tel, MyrtleBeachCondos.tel

yes, I had a green check and was able to change everything. Even the whois was correct. It appears monday morning (when $325 landrush was still active) someone bought it, but since the telwhois was out it wasnt reported until today.

They told me I was the only one this happend to and they had a discussion about it.. lol oh well
