It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

It’s a great group on this thread and I thank the few that have kept it alive. Combined this group have an excellent portfolio of .pro domains

The buyers of Go.pro and Tech.pro spent $40,000 and $25,500

These 1 word generics would get a quote of $250k - $1million over on domainnamesales dot com

Those quotes would of course be for this year. Next Year I will expect quotes to double on premium 1 word generics.

Selling a name like smile for $2200 is at this point a very low price and not a good sale. It’s missing a 2 and is worth $22,200 this year.

Next Year it will be worth considerably more. Lots sold decades ago are worth 10 to 100 times more and even a thousand fold more today. As the population got closer to these lots and the ability to develop increased so did the price.

In a similar fashion as new tools are created to develop and monetize, our land of Domains increases in value.

The masses will not take 20 - 50 years to reach us. They are coming towards the internet in alarming numbers and faster than ever.

Add a zero at the end of your asking .pro price this year and be prepared to add another at the end of 2013

Every time someone takes a picture of someone they are asked to “SMILE” One can imagine dozens of ideas for this domain name…every phone and tablet has or will have a front facing camera

The .pro buyers have waited a long time for this opportunity. Its now time to put on our big boy pants and say that your offer today is appreciated but as you know its missing a zero and it’s still a great buy.

Next year will be a different story. We will all be adding another zero

Top quality .COM barely sell for that price range, never mind .PRO.

The reality is $2200 is more than fair for that domain. It is not like end users are lining up to pay premium prices for .PRO.

You are overly optimistic about .PRO.

The truth is that it ranks way below the Big 3 (COM/NET/ORG), respected ccTLD, and even secondary gTLD like .INFO and .BIZ when it comes to registrations, usage, awareness, and sales.

Like any investor, I hope the market will go up of course but there is a reason why I invest in this extension, it's not a no-brainer red/black gambling.

There is nothing bad to ask for more (that's the most I love in domaining) as the sale price of a domain is vague, not like in any other business ( like buying real-estate).

You can ask for a price and remain with the name unsold if no buyer will pay that high, there are pros and cons, it's all about luck (preparation + opportunity).

As far as I can see (already said it in this topic),this extesion's biggest problem(only problem) is that its supposed not to rank well.

If we get over that, I can only see .pro being the 2nd best gTLD after .com in the future. Why?

First of all because of what it stands for (PROFESSIONAL) and the pros will ALWAYS have the edge in any business in front of the others. (Ex. I will always choose Smile.pro instead of Smile.net if I were to find a dentist)

With the recent xx,xxx sales and the purchase of the registry by Afilias, the only things .PRO needs is continuity in sales combined with marketing and in the next years it will really reach top 3. (In my view)

It's good to see people selling as that in itself keeps the market turning and the .pro snowball keep getting bigger. Wait till .pro becomes even slightly better known main stream. It's a killer extension.

Excerpts from Afilias press release ...

" ... the .PRO domain will soon be able to take advantage of Afilias’ market-leading registry services platform."

" ... we’ll be operating on a business-as-usual basis until the migration plan is complete.”

" ... it takes attention, dedication and resources to help a TLD achieve its full strategic potential. That’s why Afilias, which is focused on building TLDs, is excited to have .PRO join our portfolio of growing, successful domains.”

All the .pro sales i've had have been end users coming to me. This one was via an offer on sedo just after the godaddy sales. There have been quite a few lowball offers on sedo also tho.
Congrats!
Thanks

I'm happy with the price as it came at the right time. I think your valuation may be a tad high, I used the .me price of 5300 and the mobi price of 1500 as outlyers when considering my final price. Also sold style in december for a similar price. GKjunior would you mind editing full name of the domain.tld please I'm keen it does not get indexed out of respect for the buyer. Thanks :)

I'll look forward to see how pro prices go this year.

Zurab has parked freelancer.pro with Name.ly/PRO - allowing sub-domain and email leasing. What do you think of the concept I wonder?

It could be a way to generate income. Would it be like graphicdesign.freelancer.pro?

Just put sparkle.pro for sale on flippa.com as I notice a few other good .pro listings for developed site...not many, but sail.pro and xrumor.pro are both listed.

Anyway, as I wrote the description for the listing I've convinced myself that the domain offers great potential for someone wanting to spend more time than I have promoting the business and developing it. Anyway a few more postings on flippa can only raise awareness for .pro domains in general and maybe a new owner can be found.

In general it looks like this summer .pro will transition to Afilias network and hopefully another big auction will keep everything clicking along. .pro domains future is certainly bright...with a good amount of 1K + sales recently.

Cheers all!
