The new extentions

I've noticed a bit of a trend of people saying that they registered some new extension domains thinking they were on to a winner, only to end up letting the domains drop and making a loss... So I'm cautious of these domains.

What is the deal with them? Has anyone had any major success?

I never see websites actually using them, are they investments to hold for the future perhaps?

How do they go down with end users?

That alone says it all.
Of course some sites are using them, but they are buried in the serps (if they even rank) and are not significant at all.

I can't find many recent sales, I did find a few though:

Luxury.estate $50,000 DomainHoldings 7/11/14
World.estate $35,000 NoktaDomains 11/19/14
Baltic.cruises $25,000 Sedo 9/17/14
Eat.club $20,000 Sedo 7/11/14
English.club $17,500 Sedo 7/16/14
Chinese.club $13,750 Sedo 4/23/14
Meet.club $12,500 Sedo 4/23/14
Toys.club $12,500 Sedo 4/23/14
Applied.global $12,000 DotGlobal 11/12/14
Banking.global $12,000 DotGlobal 11/12/14
JobBoerse.berlin $10,880 Sedo 6/4/14
Apple.global $10,000 DotGlobal 11/12/14
Online.global $10,000 DotGlobal 11/12/14
Joy.club $10,000 Sedo 11/6/14
Black.club $10,000 Sedo 4/23/14
Russia.club $10,000 Sedo 4/23/14
Talk.club $10,000 Sedo 4/23/14
Ocean.cruises $9,900 NoktaDomains 11/19/14

Maybe with the right sales approach they can be sold to end users for a premium price. Does anyone have any experience selling a new extension domain to an end user?

Who knows maybe they will become more mainstream in the future. There's so many of them that I can't see them disappearing, maybe it is just a matter of time?

Well they are new, if people expected to make any success in such short time they might have to analyze their investment methods.

Age of the websites are an important factor for ranking well at Google and simply put new gTLD's have barely no age. The most common use of them at the moment seems to be by startups. The aftermarket stats of these are complex since there is some manipulation going on but that are probably not unique to just new gTLD's.

I would much rather own the .com of all of these domain names. Extensions are like the music industry... their will always be clowns with no talent who rise to "fame" because of brilliant marketing! Eventually, however, they fade and are forgotten... but the true legends, no one forgets them.

Think of .com's as the legends that will always be around. These gTLD's will never be what .com is, the only reason to own one, in my opinion, is to protect your brand. LuxuryEstate.com may have been the buyer (not sure) of Luxury.Estate, but the .Estate doesn't forward to the .com, so who knows.

Whoever got that one better be a start up for a global apple orchard, because if they don't represent Apple the company and use it for marketing Apple they could get burned for that.

http://luxury.estate/ > has GD placeholder, so what dumb mo-fo would pay $50K and leave it like that?

Baltic.cruises > not resolving
ocean.cruises > not resolving
Applied.global > not resolving

I decided to invest in just one new extension domain for now: Corporate .Claims

Apple Inc. bought it for some reason.
