So I have this site I advertised with a long time ago for my moving services. They sucked. They ghost billed me for months after our contract ended and I had to seriously fight them and my CC company to get my loot back. I called the BBB and filed complaints. Nothing. The BBB is so impotent!
Anyway, that is not why I'm bitching. I noticed that this suck website is using my name to generate leads from themselves, totally misleading people into thinking that they are going to get to me. It's not like an adsense or YP ad. I mean they say get in touch with XXXXXXX by clicking here. So I thought I'd rachet up the heat on them.
I already have the HOME NUMBER of their tech support person...
but I wanted legitimacy, so I contacted the F...T...C! That'd show'em!
....Right.....
Let me summarize my hour long conversation with a SUPERVISOR at the FTC and what he had to say, or rather not say:
They log your complaint into a database,
They do not have an internet complaint department,
He does not know where the complaint goes,
He does not know who looks at the complaints,
They do not have a threshold of how many complaints trigger action (no one will tell him),
There is nowhere to view progressive complaint tallies on companies,
They did not know of any other Federal agency investigating online crime (I swear to God, and I'm an athiest, that he said that),
He did not know how long the internet has been around (as a supervisor in the supposed center to report online complaints for the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION).
I feel like I am pissing into the wind. I am totally floored and completely disappointed in the absolute impotence and incompetence of the Federal government to protect its citizens. I can't think of a more pathetic display of governmental waste. Can you?
