The Dot Mobi Redirects to Lengthy URLs

What is truly going on here?

If this is not a techie error, then why is it being done intentionally?

Wei Wei is the superstar, Dot Mobi Icon now; so, is MTLD advocating or not for a stand alone weiwei.mobi site instead of http://www.mobileportal.se/xhtml.aspx?si=weiwei

There is obviously something going on here, still hehe..

New Amtrak.mobi is a big company but is http://mobile.usablenet.com/mt/www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/HomePage

On the flipside, Polo.mobi is also a new site.. but is standalone already at http://polo.mobi (they like to be first)

And, who knows what is going on behind closed doors without a Google.mobi (backer) stand alone site yet..

My thinking is there is perhaps something deeper going on here.. for this trend..

What do you think?

-Perhaps, in some cases, developers want credit for their work in the early stages of mobi awareness

-Perhaps there is some other business yet to be sealed

..they certainly have the best minds money can buy.. I don't think it's a simple techie error.. Then, what is it?

I can fathom this early trend flipping though; particularly, with the increasing importance of mobile search engine ranking.. for domain name keywords - typing in "wei wei" in yahoo.mobi would be best if it yielded first page mobile site results to the masses..

..and the fact that companies probably want mobile users to bookmark asap their permanent, future best mobile URL

Timing..

I can fathom the "slow playing" effect value being demonstrated by the powerful corporations/Dot Mobi business consortium game (like in poker when you have the top hand)

This all just kinda baffles us hehehe..

..one thing is for sure, it only gets better

It is probably an effort by corporations to secure their intellectual property in the dotmobi space. It will be interesting to watch this to see if this becomes a common pattern.
