Hi everyone! The 3D market appears to be exploding! Record takes at the box office by movies such as Avatar and Alice in Wonderland and the announcement this week of the new 3D TV which is set to hit markets shortly have helped buoy interest in 3D multimedia platforms. Even the major American television network NBC has jumped in and will be broadcasting the NCAA Final Four basketball games in 3D!

A direct beneficiary from this renewed interest and greatly improved 3D technology is the domain business. Some of you had foresight many years ago and reg'd great names early on. Others (myself included) have only become aquainted with 3D domaining more recently, but see the huge potential this market has opened up for domainers.

Let this be the place for you to show off your 3D domain names. Ask for opinions, marketing strategies or even an appraisal or guesstimation of value. Also, feel free to post any relevant news releases/articles related to the 3D industry.

I will start the thread off with a few of my own reg's..

3DHighDefinitionTV.com (also have plural)
3DHomeEntertainment.co.uk
3DHometheaters.org
3DStreamingMovie.com
3DVancouver.com
3DWhistler.com

Saucey. ;)

Still looking for thoughts on these names...

Went for the dreaded hyphen... Please, if any of you think these should be grace deleted let me know... and with reasons... I like 'em even with the stupid hyphen! hehehe..

3-dsex.net (I found it strange that the .com and .org were taken... but no the .net!?!?)

sex-3d.co.uk

Cheers!

i like the 3d together if using hyphens , so to me the second one is the only decent of the two

I have purchased a 3d name in the aftermarket this year , others should consider it as well , i really think there's not much left out there

good luck to all

It could just be me but I don't see a real market in 3D domains. It's a far more limited scope than it might seem. I could see a 3D product domain (like 3dtelevisions.com) or one for promotion of a show/movie (like 3dspiderman.com) but the rest just seem ridiculous. Have you seen the 3D domains on BIDO? They're not worth reg fee, let alone the $500 the owners are silly enough to expect.

Thanks evirtual1. You seem to be the only one that is consistantly providing opinions to others as well as adding valuable input to the general discussions.. :) Will be adding more rep points if I can!;)

I agree. I have tried to keep my most of my 3D reg's limited to "product" domains and "service" domains.

For example... some of my "product" related names include..

3dhighdefinitiontv.com
3dhighdefinitiontvs.com
hd3dtv.tv
highdefinition3d.tv
3dhometheatres.org
hd3dhometheatres.com
3dhdhometheatre.com
3dhometheatre.tv
3dhometheatres.tv
3denhancer.com
3dgraphicscard.net
digital3dcameras.net
digital3dcamera.net
videocamera3d.net
videocameras3d.net
3dhomeentertainment.co.uk
3dlasertv.co.uk
laser3dtv.co.uk

And a few of the "service" related ones I have include....

3dstreamingmovie.com
3donlinevideo.com
3donlinevideos.com
3dinternetprovider.com
3dinternetproviders.com
3disps.com
casinogames3d.com
3dpokergame.net
3dcasinogames.net
3dsportsevents.net
3dtorrent.net
3dmoviedownloads.net
3dmoviedownload.net
streaming3d.co.uk
streaming3dmovies.co.uk
3dmoviedownloads.co.uk
3dsportschannels.co.uk
3dgamble.co.uk
3dtvnetworks.co.uk
3dsportschannels.co.uk
streaming3d.info
3dtvnetwork.info

I have a few more in both categories... and a few that are a bit more obscure... But sticking with products and service related names should hopefully pay off...:$:

i have not been to bido for ????? maybe i should look , many do feel the start of a more 3d style web is comming of not here already , certainly the 3d sales have picked up compared to this time last year ,

As mentioned a few times in this thead , the adult side does seem to be searched for ?

i think it's a year or two down the track when 3d gaming follows the wave of the 3d movies that it starts to become a standard

LOL! Yes... I prefer YOUR hd3d.tv to MY hd3dtv.tv ;), oh, and by the way, thanks for the drop on 3dHomeTheatre.tv. I am hoping to make a bundle on it

I am not a big fan of 3D domains overall, but I am a fan of niche product domains.

I picked up 3DShutterGlasses.com
The term already has solid search volume.

Yep, a few unrealistic prices out there, but it's very early days.As for no market for 3D domains...i disagree, all you have to do is look at the adverts for all the 3D movies, mobile screen tech, gaming etc. They are all advertised with the term 3D in, it identifies and separates the product from similar with no 3D terminology.Take for e.g. my 3DFights.com...everything is there in the name. It's not Fights.com .People know that they'll be getting that extra depth and realism..that extra dimension..with 3D in the name.If it wasn't so ...Alice in Wonderland , Avatar etc wouldn't have made what they have.

But i reckon be a couple of years until selling time....renewal fees .........:bah:

2 years from now I think most of the best 3D names will be developed and established.
The early bird catches the juiciest worms.
Just my opinion.

I've had several xxx offers for some 3D names - who knows, maybe from people on this thread.

I think this is a space that will take a while, and again, you must have premium and relevant words with the 3D --- I'm surprised 3dtv.co.uk sold for so little. What was it - 20K?

The person on this thread who has 3dchannel is very lucky - that domain will gain in value like a first growth Bordeaux (Chateau Margaux, or Haut Brion, or Lafitte Rothschild) -- cheers!

I predict a media conglomerate will make an offer for that baby. Sorry for mixing metaphors (baby and wine), so just throw out the wine and keep the baby (3dchannel.com)

If you were to rank the top 10 3D Domains, what would your top 10 list look like?

Or if you could own any 10 3D Domains, what would they be?

This was SO hard for me to decide on... some names i SEE higher potential than others that might seem more profitable at the start (think 3d glasses - short term success for this as opposed to 3dOnlineShopping - much bigger LONG term name)

So these are the ones that i would call my favorites... hard to say which is best.. the list is long.. longer than it should be for someone looking to narrow down to 10, so i turn to you to help me choose my top 3d domain names
...please grade or pick how you think these may rank .. i'm assuming IDN's also apply to this post

1.) "Avatar" and "Alice" did far above expectations but their totals were bloated by the higher price of a 3D-movie ticket. They didn't make as much money simply because they were in 3D but rather, ticket prices were higher.

2.) I'm still waiting to see someone develop 3DCandyBar.com, 3Djeans.com, 3dToilets.com, 3DTrees.com, 3DGrasss.com, 3DMedication.com, 3DLawEnforcement.com, 3DReligion.com, 3DCookies.com etc etc etc. SOME 3D domains can work. Over 99% are absolute trash.

all you did with your first point was to prove the DEMAND for 3d, which people will OBVIOUSLY pay big $$ for with proven stats to show.

your second point shows WHY you should NOT get involved in regging 3d names

I think soon we will wear 3D glasses while driving with a LCD 3D windshield, it will show safety signs and stuff, and allow us to drive at night more safely, this is when my 3dsignboard.com will come handy.. or not?

My first post showed that prices were higher. It had nothing to do with demand. You really need to study up on business before you talk about things you don't understand.

And my second post shows WHY nearly all 3D domains are worthless. There are some that are well worth owning but most aren't. Will you ever visit a developed 3DCandyBar.com in your life? Me neither.

Archangel's "put down the pipe" comment was related to the following post, which was well deserved.

Hmmm I don't see what this has to do with anything I've posted. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, if it'll make you feel better about yourself: I was wrong, you were right and that's that. Now go and register 3DBullShit.com and make a million-dollar website outta it.
