I am so sick of Windows right now and I can't even express it (well maybe I can).

Does anyone know the BEST OS alternative to Windows OS? I'm ready to switch over! I AM READY!

Windows Vista.
If you're using that, then XP.
If you want to be frustrated more use something else.

I've always wanted to try Unix/Linux. Anyone know which one I should try?

Dunno. I still prefer Windows (the best OS imho).

I'm also a Linux user and if you want to give it a try, try Fedora

Buy an Apple. Mac OS X has high usability and stability. With a hack it is possible to run Mac OS X on a non-Apple intel based PC but I doubt that is legal.

Alternatives: Linux comes in different flavours, you should try Ubuntu for ease of installation and maintenance, or any other major distro targeted at the desktop (Fedora, Suse, etc.)

Definitely Ubuntu 7.04. I just got a CD from ShipIt in the mail yesterday. :)

Mac is great! However, I used Ubuntu for a while and loved it, except I wanted to use windows later on because a) when I bought a new comp, windows was installed and b) windows is easier when it comes to media and I like media :p

Ubuntu, plain and simple. Comes with a large userbase with support. Use it 80% of the time.

There is a big buzz around Ubuntu at the moment, lots of Windows users jumping ship for the release of the Feisty Fawn!

Ubuntu is fine, I like fedora personally for desktops. I have it dual booted with XP on this machine.

Vista is terrible. I actually tried to uninstall Vista on my laptop and install XP, however, Vista PREVENTED me from doing so. Microsoft apparently doesn't want people reverting back to XP once they have Vista.

Why not just format the drive first, instead of trying to downgrade?

I've tried to, but Vista is preventing me from even reformatting the disk. I can't even get to a command prompt at start up, so I'm fresh out of ideas of how to go about formatting the drive.

I made the switch to a Mac in march....theres no way on earth I would go back to a MS OS...

Just food for thought:

Since the beginning of this year, the Mac sales have increased over 100% selling around 30 million units....I wonder why :D

I also recommend the following from experience:
-Ubuntu
-Mandriva
-Fedora
-PCLinuxOS
-SuseLinux

Take a look at distrowatch.com for a rundown of the features of the different Unix based OS's
