Hi guys,

Recently, I had the oppertunity to try a Mac Book Pro, I was completly stunned. As I've been a Windows user my entire life, I never really gave Mac a chance. It didn't even occur to me, it was just like "Mac, who needs that..."

After trying the Mac Book Pro, exploring the features, including the wonderful application iLife - I decided I cannot go back to Windows/PC. I am ready to make the switch from a Windows User to Mac. That's a big thing when you're on the computer for than 6 hours a day! ;)

Is anyone else here a Mac Lover? Recently Made the switch? Well, I've been trying too. Though - there was one small issue, any technology related gadget is expensive. And I don't have the funds for it, so I decided to create the website http://buymymac.com! Hoping it will accomplish just that, the purchase of my Mac Book Pro.

I'm not here to ask for donations, or your thoughts on the template (though both are welcome;))... I'm here to ask you, do you think I can do it? Many peers around me think I can, I'm not too sure!

I spoke with -RJ- before posting this, he said it was acceptable.

Looks like a nice site there Chris :)

I've had a look around and it looks pretty well done and has been developed well.

Good luck! [Too bad I'm a Windows fan :p]

Your site is well-put-together, easy to navigate and easy to understand.

That's a lot of money in donations. I think Mac fans may find it entertaining to see a Windows PC smashed, but being a PC fan, I wouldn't pay to see it. Since Macs are like maybe 2% (?) of the entire computer market, it will take a lot of traffic to reach your goal in donations, which will probably be entirely from Mac users.

I think putting an email link on your site is setting yourself up for receiving a lot of mac-hater email. I've seen people resort to verbally assaulting one another while arguing over which system is better! I've worked and played on both and I believe it's like comparing apples and oranges. (I can't stand the new Mac to PC "comparison" ads, BTW.)

Here's my favorite Mac ad (only the first one, the other two are lame).
Clicky :p :guilty:

Good luck with the site. I hope you reach your goal!

LOL! Good clip. :tu:

I also hate the Apple ads, they always try to makeout Apple is far better, and that PC is rubbish. They exagerate and lie to much.

And here is a old video, but good. :D http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-6553260189868317794&q=mac

Oh, Chris, I'm not sure if the site will work. : /

Good luck though.

Adrian

PS: Stay with PC. xD

Thanks Paul!

At the moment I am looking for ways to promote this website - quite frankly, it's a difficult task. Especially to appear "not spamming".

The only thing I use Windows for nowadays is to play games. Aside from this, I use Linux to browse the web, check my e-mail etc., though most of the time I just stick to windows as I don't have dual-boot on my hard-disk yet, so I have to chop and change hard-disks.

Boot-Camp is probably making me want a Mac a bit, though I could never afford the luxury of buying a non-grey box.

I like the idea but I agree with others above in that I only think Mac Lovers would donate. I think a donating towards a normal laptop would get you more traffic, you could just stick and system on it now in any case, even OS X since the osx86 project got going.

Just my 2 cents :(

I owned an iBook back in the day, and I loved it. I don't want to go into huge details about why I no longer have it, but suffice to say, I don't anymore. If I could afford a Mac I would have one most likely, but I would indeed install Boot Camp or maintain a Windows PC as well.

The sole reason I do not have a Mac is exactly the same reason you don't, and that is cost. I hope this works out for you, it's a cool idea.

I think cost is one of the biggest factors for sticking with Windows PCs.. support is another issue.

Where I live, the closest place for Mac products or tech support is the Best Buy almost 20 miles away and I'm not even sure how Mac-saavy they might be.
