I recently registered to namepros.com..

I also recently asked a few questions, one of them was where to sell domain names in the safest way possible.

A few answered with escrow.com and I proceeded with the 2 sales I had with them.

The other day I sold off 2 names, one for 10K USD, and one for 5K USD.
Ive been collecting domain names since 2000, never sold a single one, since each one of the domains was originally registered with the intention of creating a site. Unfortunately, as many knows.. One mans time is limited and with thousands of names, around 100 are now developed.

Anyway.. For this being my first 2 sales, I think the outcome was very good.

I wanted to thank those that posted in my threads, giving me their feedback and suggestions! Thanks!

(to those curious of the name, I wont be able to tell until a few months has passed)

Aww-right! Nice of you acknowledge the site and the help that the membership may have provided to help you with these great sales. :tu:
If it isn't a problem for you, maybe you could share with us what site you sold them out of, somewhere down the line. Uh, on second thought, I guess since you were using escrow.com, the offers probably came to directly.

Thank you everyone for your kind words..

@ Grrilla:
To answer your question..

I never registered a name with the purpose of selling it down the road.
Through all the years Ive been doing business online, all the domain names were registered mostly because I saw a potential in the name itself.

I always register brandable names and names that I like myself. Most of the names me and my company own were also registered with the purpose of getting them developed. Making profitable sites out of them.

I never advertised any domains (for selling) out of the very same reason.

The domains I recently sold are 2 domains that are very brandable, and my visions of the sites (developed), were most likely very similar to the buyers vision.

After turning down 5 diffirent buyers for the last year, (for these 2 names)telling them I dont need their money and I dont need to sell the names, the only 2 reasons I sold them is because:

1: the final prices I sold them for was high.
2: I realized It would take me years until my schedule would allow me to develop them.

reason number 2 was probably the one that made me sell.
With so many domain names, and so many visions to develop so many of them, I simply realized that many years would pass before I could even start getting them developed..

I get emails each month on people that want to buy domain names from me. I usually tell them the name(s) are not for sale.

But with these 2 sold..Who knows..
I might sell of a few more. ;)

During this process, Im glad for one thing:
I searched the net trying to find a good place to get feedback on places to sell domain names. Some boards seemed "dead", others non productive.
I finally found name pros, and registered and asked my question.

I got answers pretty fast, and a few mentioned escrow.com.

Namepros is a great board, with nice active members, that does not seem to shy away from helping and guiding others, and Im glad I found this place.

Keep up the good work everyone!

Hey Pete, i really like your take on the big picture. Because you have been registering names for development since 2000, I'm sure you have gathered a very nice portfolio for your projects, (and have a large space reserved for the backburner :hehe: ).
5 years back, my only involvement w/ domain name registration had been for the purpose of having a couple of sites ip for my non-web related businesse. I eventually gravitated to domain name sales through this exposure and because of my infactuation w/ words/names.
My interest in web development came later, as an adjunct of my involvement w/ domain names, perhaps in the reverse order of what the norm is, but that fits a general pattern that I seem have as I become involved in a new endeavor.

You will find that members here, (and at other sites w/ a focus on domain names), are involved for a wide range of reasons- from registering names strictly for development purposes to acquiring names only because of their sales, investment and monetization potential. Many, as in my case, are multi-taskers who may have an area of specialization, but who are also working on different levels simultaneously.

Regardless of the particular bent or the reason for involvement, I have found NP to be an excellent place to get timely advice and answers to questions as well as a top notch resource center, and that there is room for most all walks of life that can be found in the domain name/ecommerce arena.
