Hi!

I feel the standard of the marketplace here is slipping a little- I have sold many many more domains on other forums in the last months than here, and it really pains me to notice that. I often think there is a huge number of reg-fee names saturating the marketplace, so I have more and more been looking in the 'high-priced' and 'traffic names section'.

I have a minor issue with the traffic names section.

Very rarely are the rules adhered to - I would say the majority of names posted there are not accompanied by a screenshot (although I notice this is a new rule). The thing that bugs me most though is that I do not consider a name that has between 1 and 30 hits a month a "traffic name". Almost every name I have ever registered and parked receives 'some traffic', and I feel that names being posted with 2 or 3 hits make a mockery of the professional element of the forum. I enjoy namepros for two reasons- one it is without doubt the best community of domainers on the web, the users are friendly and the 'spirit' of the forum is unrivalled, but also as it is a flourishing marketplace in which to conduct business.

I would suggest a minimum requirement for traffic domains posted in the traffic forum, as i see more and more names entered that I really do not consider having notable traffic.

Sorry if I am being a ginger whinger, I'm sure others must feel the same though!

Other than that, keep up the great work!
:)

Someone was working on that screenshot issue. Locking/renaming every thread without one.

As for the "traffic" in a "with traffic section", I definitely think there should be some form of lower limit. Maybe 100+ a month or somethin'.

It's beginning to look like every marketplace forum needs its own staff member. There's so many rule violations, from the screenshots issue to wrong sections, adult names appearing everywhere, even people running up half a dozen threads in 10 minutes in the same forum.
I report most of the ones I see. The staff'll be getting annoyed at me soon for reporting so much. ;)

I think we need to start getting tough on the people who can't read the rules.
Maybe when DNOA properly takes off, the DNOA marketplace will get more active, then we can get an exclusive section away from the influx of rule breakers. :)

Well Chris, what else can be said after that outstanding assessment and expression of the true NP'r community except I am afraid I will have to agree with everything you just said... including the changes that need to be implemented, 100%. And so does Management as well as Admin.
Lots of changes were infused recently, and some of which are still in what may be called Beta. We didn’t know what would be needed until we saw it work, or not.
I can tell you that the Marketplace is a prime concern, and that we are already discussing how best to tweak different areas. More specific rules and guidelines are on the table and being considered as we speak. I don’t remember this specific point that you have brought up here in that group, but looking at it now, it will be. 10 hits a month is not traffic. Screenshot enforcement will be stepped up. Lots of positive movement going on upstairs since the workload has been redistributed and -db- has got some very cool ideas and we all are keeping this one step at a time attitude, let’s be sure we are satisfied with this before we move on to that. That way we don’t leave messes behind. So this will now be addressed, in its turn, and personally I thank you for bringing it up.

Peace,
Cyberian

Good to hear, Kenny.

I look forward to seeing some of db's ideas implemented. Although from what I hear, most of them involve sheep or some other form of livestock so I'm not too sure how they'll turn out... :D

Thanks a lot Cyberian for your support, I am always nervous critiscising anything I care about a lot. It is very encouraging to hear about the work going on and I am eager to watch it develop. I realise that all improvements require a lot of testing and some ideas work and others not. If I can ever be of any assistance please let me know, although I am sure that between you guys you have the very best team with which to tackle any situation on the forum.
Many thanks once again.

Chris, thanks for your feedback and concern.

We feel very good about the foundation we have in place, and lots of work and planning went into our last expansion when we added several new sections (HighPrice, ccTLD, Traffic, etc). As always, it's a continuing process of tweaking and adjusting, and we keep moving forward striving to improve each step along the way.

I realize the Traffic section has recently come under fire, and we've already started addressing it. Scott has posted a simple set of 'specific' rules for the Traffic section (which compliment the standard marketplace rules already in place), and he's been working hard to weed out any listings that don't follow them, with the main issue being no screenshots. As for a 'minimum' traffic requirement, that is definitely something we will consider adding in the near future.

Also, the Auction section is due for a rules/guideline update, and I'm nearly finished working on that, but we still have a couple issues to decide before it gets posted.
