I'd like to hear success stories of anyone, especially those making 6 figures a year and above. i.e. The Wealthy/Rich Domainers.
Your story may help many get that extra inspiration/motivation needed to get to the next level. Share your story with us....

A few questions:

1) When and how did you start?
2) What could you say has gotten you the most success in the Domain industry?
3) What's the best advice you could give to new domainer?

Thanks for sharing your story!

~Do not Over think the domain industry. It's very simple really!

~Be a leader not a follower! Think outside the box.

~Quality is better then Quantity.

~Buy domains that Make Sense and stick with the proven .com! Keep in mind this is the internet, so match your domain to what people search for on the internet!

~Profit is Profit! You do not always have to go for the big sale on every domain you own!

i agree with yofie

the most profound thing he has said tho is the last part, if you hold out for the big sale remember you are missing out on reinvesting the proceeds from smaller sales, if you can make a good sale and then use that $$ to buy up more names which then make great sales you will be far better off than holding one ad infinitum

I agree with much of what has been said but personally I have made the majority of my sales income outside of the .com box although I have had my biggest sales to date with .com.

.co.in/in has been the most profitable for me by a long way but I just got a lucky break- looking where others were not at that particular time and still getting $x,xxx .co.in sales and expecting many more in the coming year or two.

Thinking outside the box is definitely a go for strategy, you may just hit the gold vein.

If you are looking to get in the newest gold rush I have no doubt that IDN offer the best opportunities for those who are prepared to learn and not bleat about them being " not in my language so how can I invest" .

This is a great business and is always evolving - you should to :!:

I agree, think outside the box. Looks for new words technologies, etc you can capitalize on. Always shoto for .com's. When Icann starts issuing huundreds of new extensions and selling custom extensions, most domains will be affected on the downside, except for .com's (This is an overall general statement). remember that no matter what extension there is out there, people will always mistype it as .com, meaning you will capitalize on the traffic of all future domain names if you own the .com version.

Trust me, LLL.com's will be great investments as more and more LLL.nets, lll.org's lll.whatever are being put into use, a bulk of that traffic is going to the .com version and this will only continue to expand.

I agree with wot that opportunities lie in ccTLDs (if I may expand upon your post? :) & IDNs.

Nationalization but more importantly Personalization of the internet are the waves of natural evolution.

Don't park. Think smart and spend a little effort developing.

all i can add to this discussion is that i know i've made a heck lot more money after i dropped my early "get rich quick" mentality, and moved into "slow and sure".

:D

i used to spend hours tracking tiny amounts of traffic, looking for a quick buck. and found it dwindled anyway. then i moved to slow, steady sites that you can gradually improve - and have traffic and value gradually increase - much better!
