Is there really a 'stupid' question on Namepros when a question is asked with sincerity? On another post there was an attack on the OP saying the question asked was "stupid".....The OP made some GREAT points in his defense....I have witnessed this multiple times on NamePros and feel that belittling an honest question, by calling it "stupid", is very unnecessary. This is a forum to "BUY SELL AND DISCUSS DOMAIN NAMES", as the tagline suggests, and any question related to that should NOT be considered "stupid". This forum is filled with all levels of expertise and discussion is best when those asking questions are not chastised. If someone does not like the question asked they should not answer it and just move on to another post.

There is never a need to for this and there are no stupid questions. Everyone looks at domaining in a different way and everyone has a different level of experience and expertise on here.

Yes, there is such a thing as a stupid question on NamePros, even asked with sincerity.

This is because that same stupid question has been asked 100 times before.

Now, you're either new and don't know how to use the search feature, or, you're disagreeing and saying that the hundreds of other answers provided for your stupid question are stupid.

Pick one.

After reading your reply I should probably start a post, IS THERE A STUPID ANSWER?:xf.grin:

i know that thread

https://www.namepros.com/threads/ev...o-to-sell-a-domain-not-what-you-think.995599/
and i have seen some people are acting the same several times here on np.. i have to say that every one here is free to make any discussion and to ask any question as long as there is no rude to any one or breaking the forum rules.. i think these are the forum rules here...and if someone doesn't like this question there is no need to say it's a stupid question just move on... if you dont like the question just close it you dont have to reply or to insult other people.. there is a small button up there called (x) just press it and every thing will be fine.

That guy should be banned or punish. If you don't like the topic, just move on and not insulting the op...
One silly thing about his comment is bragging about amount of likes he gets pfftt. Don't really help with the discussion, even bring the discussion to nowhere...

If someone is stumped and genuinely does not know the answer to a question, then there's no harm in inquiring. Yes, preliminary research should be done but sometimes people would like to get acquainted with different perspectives. Therefore, they ask the question again to see if there's a change in responses. Also, information gets outdated sometimes. The answer to a question asked in 2001 may not be consistent with an answer to the same question in 2017.

Now I will admit that some questions are poorly constructed and just downright..............outlandish but at the same time - a "stupid question" is not representative of a "stupid" person. For example - the OP was called an "idiot". Maybe the question was unclear but that is exactly why many people are afraid to ask questions, for the fear of being misjudged. If you think it's stupid, okay - good for you. Move along.

Please don't feed the TROLLS.

Maybe use the "report" option

Disclaimer..not sure if "Troll" is politically correct? My other option was calling them, "self centered, sheltered life (Grandma basement), etc..etc.."

It's an incurable disease some people are suffering from. I come to believe that what you criticize in others is what you donโ€™t like in yourself.

Another word to lose and never use in the forum.

The S-Word
Lose it, don't prove it

:shifty:

I believe that reporting is a better option than insulting...I also believe no one has a gun to their head that forces them to type an answer on the keyboard.
If one decides to type then better be useful or entertaining...if one is none of the two then that one is useless.

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers! Having said this, making use of the Search feature is a useful knack that many people, myself included, often forget about :xf.confused:

I believe it's fine used in context you provided.

It's not directed towards a specific individual, especially one who may or may not be participating in this thread, so I think you're golden.

The problem with the search feature is that it has some internal bugs. Type in "brandable sales" and it can"t even find the "brandable daily sales analysis" thread. 45 pages of brandable sales and the search function can't even find it.

If you type in "brandables" you would think it would be smart enough to lead you to the "brandable domain discussion" section of Namepros but it doesn't. It's a whole section devoted just to brandables but it doesn't show up. Pretty simple search request and it leads you to anything and everything except the actual section where all these discussions take place.

That's why no one uses it including myself.

Yes there are some stupid questions here but most are not to actually get an answer from people, but more to get a rise out of people. If the question is a quest for actual information that is relevant, then no, there are no stupid questions.

Yes, the search feature has some bugs in it for sure. I often search twice and get a different answer the second time. I considered it to be my browser, but maybe not.O_o

It works if you use Advanced search options (Learn how to use NamePros search):

However, it's not that user friendly because our forum software (XenForo) hasn't improved it in a long time.

It's not a bug. It searches the forum you're in by default (Learn more).

Hope that helps,
