Selling, or being in possession of an 'adult' toy in Mississippi can result in a $500 fine and six months in jail.

I think this is by far the stupidest thing i've seen in a long time.

“A person commits the offense of distributing unlawful sexual devices when he knowingly sells, advertises, publishes or exhibits to any person any three-dimensional device designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs or offers to do so or possesses such devices with the intent to do so.”

Does that mean cucumbers will be banned too?

They're definitely crazy!
Mississippi’s laws would make you believe sex is the single greatest threat to public safety and well-being. After all, it’s illegal in Mississippi to have sex with someone you’re not married to or to live with someone other than your spouse.

Both can result in a $500 fine and six months in jail. And men are not permitted to be aroused in public. But at least good people are protected from the disfigurement that could result from an accidental electrical overload from a defective toy.
Maybe they should ban something that actually is a danger to the residents of Mississippi - maybe cigarettes or burgers :) (see next quote)
This, from a state that levies only an 18-cent tax on cigarettes, 55 cents below the national average and where 62 percent of residents are overweight, making it the fattest state in the country. Yet still the public schools don’t make gym class compulsory.
Ah well, at least I'm not female or from Mississippi ;)

I can see it now. Police bust down the door and yell, "Put down the sex toy and come out with your hand's up. Actually put some clothes on and then come out." The whole thing is ridiculous. What's next?

Meanwhile in another story, Alabama, Louisiana sex toy industry skyrockets...

This is the most ridiculous law I have ever heard of. Why should mississippi laws get into their citizen's privacy? Now they all have to drive to alabama and louisiana.

What do you expect when a bunch of backwoods bible pounding Bush supporters are making the laws?
Welcome to George Bush and Dick Cheney's world people.

Why must everything be political with you HH?

You never miss an opportunity to blame George Bush for whatever happens in this country, or to insult the people that support him.

Why don't you join a political forum somewhere, instead of bringing this stuff to NP?

Are laws not made by politicians?

I doubt seriously that George Bush went to Mississippi and created a law to stop women from using vibrators. He probably has nothing at all to do with it. Surely he would start in Texas if he was going to do such a thing.

And you know comments like "backwoods" imply very insulting things, and are likely to start trouble. And no, I'm not a big Bush supporter, but I'm a supporter of peace in this community.

That's all I want.... is Peace. :)

Anti-Abortion laws are springing up all of the time.
Anti-Gay Marriage laws are encouraged by the Bush administration.
Illegal spying is encouraged by Bush himself.
More and more laws that limit the rights of the individual are being imposed every day.

The Bush administration has a direct effect on this Mississippi law. His policies and his beliefs encourage exactly this kind of law making.

Fair enough.

I guess my point is that 13 other people commented on the topic before you without bringing politics into it, or without making remarks that could be considered insults to any political party. I just wish you could do the same. That's all.
