I'm sick & tired of scams and mostly because i feel very bad when i hear others sad stories of getting scammed.

The Idea

To create a home of all the scams on the internet sort of a search engine only to highlight online criminals showing their upto date scams and infos

I've been thinking about this since 3 months, but i have no progress upon it
I have been thinking of developing an open-source project - similar to search engine but quite unlike it.

No way! i can do this all by myself just think how much time and effort it will require other then efforts it will mostly like require it to be spread all over the internet.

The project is not going to start until there are couple of developer who don't mind putting some of their skills and time torwards the development of it

So we will need atleast couple of people to help me on the development of it it doesn't matter if its 1 hour or 10 hours a day.

I will need 1 person who is completely trustable especially on NP and its great if he's a programmer too, Why i need this person you ask...? Well i'm not able to accept paypal donations which or if will be offered and need a person trust-worthy who can accept on the sites behalf. Money will be used to spread and develop the site.

and thank you Dluzion for willing to support the web hosting needs for the project

Badger thank you very much for giving your opinion but like i said this is just a idea i've been thinking of ...to make it a reality.

It'll only be possiable if some amount of people are willing to support it so i don't think the efforts mine or anyone who helps on it will goto any waste. A strong community is a back-bone of a well established society.

I've been talking with some of my clients regarding this idea and if i'm lucky they'll sponser the whole project, i'm not even able to buy a domain myself due to the fact that i'm in a country where Paypal's not available which will be a huge help for getting dontations to maintain the site and also spread it.

I'll post back if i get an update wheater or not they're willing to help.

so if you need php/perl, just ask. (although, I may not be able to do the perl)

and what do you mean by 'open-source'?
Any site can search the database? Anyone can edit the code? Anyone can add things? ect

What i mean by Open-Source is that the entire development of the site will be based upon OpenSource Terms, but i'm also thinking of just selecting the peoples who email to help and get the code of the project?


UPDATE :-
After talking about an hour with my client he didn't agree on sponsering the project and he told some info regarding the project.

While we were talking we discussed about many aspects of the project including how it will work, he told me if i run such an organization / community i will have to fight Legal Lawsuits which he said he knows i can't afford to, he said that if i develop the project i maybe accused or also Sued by other peoples, he said that if you really want to run such a community you will atleast need $xxxx to back the project with those funds incase of legal law wars, he also said that i can't do this from the country i am in Pak, so i'm quite disappointed to hear all this but i'm willing to provide all the details & idea of the project (i.e how i thought it would all work) so that if someone from the USA is wanting to do something like this can get some ideas off of mine, i have also just thought of a domain for it just minutes ago, but its no use so i'm also posting it here http://www.ScamDB.net / .Org

If anyone in the States is willing to run this community please do let me know as i will be more then glad to help as much as possiable.

Other then that i've been given some huge loads of work today (LOL i think my client thought that i have nothing to do and so he pushed some more work on to me )

The actual fact.. I have thought about this ALOT for DNOA.. It would quiet complex to design and create such a thing because commonly there is ALOT of legal issues involved.. Being giving away personal information about a person on your website or mis-use of the service to tarnish someones reputation by just posting fake facts about somebody.

You would need a legal team backing you up aswell as a team to confront the accuser aswell as the accused and try to solve this before just posting "junk" about somebody.

Yes Steve i agree with you 100% about that, and lawsuits are must to have in a environment like this!

I think DNOA would be the ideal organisation to do something like this. Yes you are right about the fake reports so there would have to be a team of people that investigate the claims that have been made.

was really helpful, but i've already made the decesion of putting project due to somethings i lack of.

BTW, that guy Zain Jaffar was trying to make a new ORG sort of like FBI / CIA but lol i'm not trying to do that, i was just trying to make a service that will update users with the latest scams and all the details about it, including where it was first reported, which day, times, etc, etc.

Users would normally have to suscribe to the email list to get regular updates from the site.

Just want to let you about that, but still you're pretty right along with the other emails i've been just starting to receive.

I will look into helping NP'ers some day with something better.

Busy as a bugger at the moment but could put some input a week into it.

Me and bonzer have the legendary http://www.scambuster.biz but we haven't got the time to fully develop it at the moment.
With some new moderators there it might have some legs.
Any thoughts?

The project is to share and spread awareness about online scams, not just domain scams, but every online scam you can think off, which affects you, affects me, and affects any common internet user.

Untill now, I thought I am all alone in this but just stumbled upon this thread and realize that there are many who share my vision.

I shall be looking forward to support from established quarters like namepros staff and senior, respected members here and at other leading forums.

I just stumbled upon hosting. I had a small reselelr which i planned to use, but the reseeler is giving problems. I am moving it to new reseller some time soon, once i find a good reseller which does not dent my pocket much.

I would invite suggestions from all of you.

Unfortunately, I don't have graphics skills and to speed up the process, i am gonig to use CMS, unless someone has better idea or can devote his skills here for the project.

Spreading Awareness About Online Scams is expected to be a good resource to help each other and list as many scams as one can, under one roof.

I'll keep you guys updated on its progress.

But honestly, now that I find there are many who share my vision, I would look forward to suggestions from everyone of you.

You may send me PM, contact me via messengers on my profile or post here (if thread starter has no objection).

If you have any skill to devote for the site, please come forward.

I shall also be requiring some respected members to take vital positions and guide the forums appropriately.

Lets hope this project gets realized soon.

We can not wipe away scams. Scams have happened and will happen. But we can atleast try to make as many people aware as we can and reduce their incidence. SAAOS.org is a step in this direction.
