Are these worth anything? Why would I not want to register one of these domains? How would it compete with a .com, .net, etc?

That is exactly what I was talking about.

I did a little research and found that I would have to install something on my PC to be able to view the sites. I am not interrested in purchasing a domain that most people can't view.
