Sombrero.de legitimate or not?

So came across this site where a domain I want to buy is listen however can't find anything about it anywhere, no reviews no anything. They have stated that Daniel Law is their CEO (he from Rookmedia) So this of course it makes me wonder since there should be some track record on the web, like anywhere I can't be their first costumer (they have a few nice domains too).

Well maybe I'll take the risk then, going to the checkout and their only choice of payment option is Bank wire transfer. It's not common at all in the north of Europe, seriously only come across it once from a company in the last 10 years. Not even card or paypal.

This is their response when I did ask them about the payment methods:

We currently have not implemented Paypal because we think it is less safe than bank wires. For virtual goods (as domains are) Paypal 's usual buyer protection does not apply at all. Bank wires are actually much more safe than Paypal payments. Real bank accounts at established banks offer more security than those of Paypal and, in case of problems, can be tracked by the bank and even reversed. Further, Paypal charges high fees, which would have to be added to the domain price, since their fees are a percentage of the total sum that is transferred.

Can this really be the real deal or is it some sort of scam?
Can anyone on here confirm their if they are legitimate or not?

I don't know this site, but I agree with what they say about Paypal.

Perhaps you could just contact the domain holder through whois and bypass the market place.

I would if I could but it's not possible for this domain I'm looking to buy.
Sure thing about Paypal but bank wire transfer common, that's even more unsafe for the costumer. I could literally slip with my fingers and pay a random guy a million bucks and the bank wouldn't help me out. At least that's how it works over here.

Did you you use this service? I am in the same boat. Trying to decide if sombrero.de is legitimate. They want me to escrow through them, but I don't want to flush money down a hole.

They are from Germany and look legit. Give me 1 hour to confirm their info (they are incorporated) and I can tell for sure.

A crook can register a domain using the details of an actual existing company, so the Whois info is not reliable.

So first of all, let’s check if sombrero.de is really owned by “Sombrero.de GmbH” as reported by the Whois info which is confirmed by GeoTrust Inc. certificate.

Ok, now that we have confirmed the actual website’s owner, let’s take a look at their company details. Their VAT number DE247729979 is valid and they are incorporated at the District Court Koeln under the company number HRB57483.

To incorporate a company in Germany is not cheap. The minimum share capital is 25,000 Euros (about $27,000). You can estimate that they have invested about $50,000 in this website.

Unconfirmed info is that it is a small company with 1 – 9 employees.

Incorporated companies in Germany must publish an official annual financial statement. You can view these statements online through many service sites. I have attached their latest annual financial report which is from 2012.

This is all publicly available information - I did not leak any private details.
